What is the big Cortex+ announcement going to be?

"We have a huge, huge license that we're going to announce this year at GenCon on Friday afternoon. Bigger than anything we've ever had."

So, anyone want to speculate as to what it might be?

Who are they?

Cortex Plus is a system by Margaret Weis Productions, the company that created rpgs for Battlestar Galactica, Serenity and Supernatural under the classic Cortex system. There is also a generic version of the Cortex rules.

Cortex Plus is a variant that changes with each license and removes traditional rpg elements when Cam feels it is necessary, for the property. To date, it has been used for both Smallville which did away with Attributes and Skills for Values and Relationships and for Leverage which kept Attributes, but replaced skills with Roles.

Star Wars!

That was my first thought (followed by Harry Potter), but I thought that they were ruled out after Mongoose Matt's revealed Mongoose did not get the license and someone else did.

If it is Star Wars, I hope they keep Attributes and Skills. I was not fond of replacing them for Values and Relationships in Smallville and would have preferred Values and Relationships working, mechanically, more like Assets.

Back in December, Cam Banks said it wasn't them who got the Star Wars license. Either something changed, or it's not Star Wars. Harry Potter would be huge, but seems a bit unlikely. Rowling doesn't really seem the type to license an RPG. But I'd be content to be proved wrong on that one.

From what I understand from publisher gossip someone has the Star Wars liscense so why not MWP? I haven't seen either Smallville or Leverage yet to see what changes to the system they have made.

Other things that would be big but I doubt it is: Ultimate Marvel, Transformers, Hunger Games.

Rowling doesn't really seem the type to license an RPG. But I'd be content to be proved wrong on that one.

I seem to recall when Wizards tried to since they had a CCG game that she emphatically said no.
