The Express Diaries is a novelisation of a quite particular journey through the epic Call of Cthulhu campaign. The adaptation is written by Nick Marsh (Soul Purpose, Past Tense, The Ancients) and features superb art by Eric M. Smith (Lovecraftian Tales from the Table and myriad YSDC art). It will be available in eBook, softcover and wonderful jacketed hardcover.

This book has been years in the making and we'll be holding an IndieGoGo fundraiser (a European-friendly version of Kickstarter) beginning the end of next week (mid-late April).

Some of the fundraiser incentives will include a small number of options for having your name or likeness immortalised in The Express Diaries.

Thank you!

For those wondering about the benefits, supporting the fundraiser/pre-order means you:

  1. Get it first.
  2. Get it cheaper.
  3. Get your name in the book.
  4. Get exclusive extras.

For example if you're outside the UK/Europe, with the fundraiser you can have the book delivered to your door for $45. If you want to get it after that, it's going to be over $60! (Thanks to recent Royal Mail price increases.)

I'm eagerly awaiting the novelization of HotOE, and I'm glad a campaign 20 years old is still getting some press and publicity!

And, (free plug ) if you haven't yet, I would HIGHLY recommend any of the audio games Paul and company post. Over the course of 6+ years, they've run through some of the most epic Call of Cthulhu games already, including "Masks of Nyarlathotep", "Walker in the Wastes", and "Tatters of the King", amongst others. (And "Beyond the Mountains of Madness" is the current playthrough.)

You can always go to Yog-Sothoth - YSDC Front Page (or iTunes) to see what current games are available. And, if you become a patron of YSDC, you have access to all the audio archives, amongst a bunch of other goodies. (And many kudos to Paul, Helen and co. for keeping the site up and running as a labor of love for all these years.)

Thank you very much for the exceedingly kind words!

The fundraiser is now 90+% funded in its first week. For those who'd like a direct link to the first sample chapter, here it is:

Download the first chapter: LONDON, 1925 (PDF, 1.8 MB)

The hardcover, dust jacketed book will be extensively illustrated including 16 pages of full colour plates. Here's an example of some of the art:

Thanks for the heads-up Paul---I hadn't seen this the first time you mentioned it. I've plugged it on FB too, and if you haven't mentioned it on the Acaeum yet, you should.

Thanks Allan,

Please do feel free to mention it on the Acaeum.

We made our target (in just under a week). A big thank you to everyone who's supported the fundraiser so far.

The pre-orders remain open until mid-June so there's still time. Meanwhile a little promo video as well.

We've now announced a couple of "stretch goals" - rewards for which include:

Stretch Goal 1 - VIOLET'S DIARY & POSTCARD SET

Every backer gets an eBook copy of the original (and newly revised & updated) VIOLET'S DIARY written by Helen Maclean. The book that started it all. Print backers also get an EXPRESS DIARIES four postcard set along with their book(s).

Stretch Goal 2 - THE AUSPERG AFFAIR

Every backer also gets an eBook copy of "THE AUSPERG AFFAIR" - recovered from Moretti's memoirs - the thrilling prequel to THE EXPRESS DIARIES.

Overheard one October evening in London...

Professor Moretti: "Austrian-trained giant zombie carnivorous apes..?"
Col. Goodenough: "The latest horror of the Austrian war machine."
