Wizkids next license... Shadowrun

We have received confirmed news from some of our sources on the license news we've been watching at WizKids. We now have some definite details. The new game is "Shadowrun". What makes this game different from other WizKids games is the figures are "action-figure" sized. Each figure will be sold individually eliminating the randomness of previous WizKids games. The game keeps the same mechanic as a "clicky" base but with a much larger scale. Word is that this will take WizKids into the Action Figure market in a big way, expanding the number of retailers who sold their previous games. The figures our sources saw were "quite nice and as good as other action figures on the market". The mechanics as they relate to previous incarnations of Shadowrun are still a bit unclear. The game is currently scheduled for release in June. We expect a few more details on Monday with WizKids "big" release news.

A Car Wars license is also mentioned.

Edit: Just removed the "[OT]", as this is about gaming. --Dinkeldog

Oooh! I'm all over Car Wars if it gets clickyfied. Fun game, but there always seemed a bit much on the "new player" side of things. (Of course, it's been years since I've played so I could be full of it.)

I would love if they did Car Wars as clix, but it would scrub one of my favoite parts of the game: making cars.

Nooooot Necessarily. Mage Knight figures are fairly easy to remove from their bases, revealing the little cards inside. Truth be told, if they could come up with some way to allow players to alter car stats (computer template for a laser or ink printer, perhaps?), then car customizations for the devoted part of the fan base is then a reality, and Car Wars would SERIOUSLY rock for a Clix-based game.

Sorry about the outburst -- my inner Geek just sprung a leak...

As a geek with the struggling disad, I've been chaining my self down to avoid getting hooked on Wiz Kids products.

But Car Wars would cause me to fail my Will save, I'm sure.

Excellent idea. Maybe put the basic rules in the Starter Set and put out a separate small book detailing the rules for creation.

That'd probably be in Wizkids' best interest because even if they decided not to, there'd be a 3rd party freebie download on how to do it within two months, maybe 6 months before a really robust framework came out. If WK did it, they'd a) get the money for it, and b) set up a standard across the playing community.

Software would be extra-sweet, and probably not real hard to do, depending on complexity and and incorporation of the rules. I.e. is it just a full-in-the-blank template thing or is it a full generator?

I think if there were a Car Wars Clix series, there'd be lotsa kitbashing for it. Guess everyone is more excited about a potential Car Wars line compared to Shadowrun. ;)

Pull the card out, scan it in and tweak all the numbers, print out your new card and put it in there.

If you're clever, the people you play with will never notice a few subtle tweaks to give you an edge.

Of course, I've never actually played one of these games, as I'm not into mini games and especially not into prepainted minis, but the above should work for any aspiring cheater.

The Shadowrun Wizkid game is a bit different than the other clix games. The figurs are action figure-like and big. But for the whole story:

check it out here

As you notice, you can modify the figs with all the gear from all figures plus the gear expansions (once they are out) - some similar system could be possible for Car Wars too (like engine, weapons, armor, and so on).
