Yeah, there's a ton of old remakes on the vault, A1-4, B2, G1-3, S1, T1-4, etc. seem to be pretty damn popular. I want to play some of them eventually, but as I'm not familair with most of them, I can't really tell if they're good adaptations. Interestingly enough, while there aren't a lot a 2e module conversions I've noticed, the 3e adventures The Sunless Citadel and Forge of Fury both seem to be pretty popular targets for conversion as well (perhaps being 3.0 like NWN makes them relatively easy to do).

Hey there Orius;

I have not yet found a good T1-4 adaptation, or a G1-3, etc. This is sad, being a late 70's beginning gamer I've been on the lookout for a good remake of T1 especially. Nothing. blech.

This N1 is a good one though, and the S1 adaptation by Ghool is stunning and the hardest adventure I ever went through - really gave my fighter 11/monk 10/weapon master 7 a run for his money! It is really, REALLY hard and very challenging. UK5 by enoa is an excellent remake, as are the A1-2 remakes by JayAre. There is a good remake of U1-3 and UK2 as well. Worthwhile stuff. But these are the only ones I'm familiar with.

I've been playing the adventure, and it's pretty good, I just have to be careful with the stuff in my Override folder because it messes up some of the cutscenes. I have no idea if it's accurate, but it's well written.

In general, the glory of 1E was the Adventures. 2E had great setting, and 3E seems to have the best ruleset. Now, some people may debate that, but it seems to be a fairly good consensus.

Given I rarely played premade modules, I need to remember which ones I'd played way back when. I'm thinking it was the B series, but not sure. In Search of the Unknown I think?

Orius - interesting. I had no problems with the cutscenes maself. But I did have some probs with some of the "aeriel 3-D effects" in selected rooms ... I usually use the top-down viewing mode. I did write to the mod writer about it, too, and he said he would look into it. Had that happen to you yet?

As for original module accuracy, there was fluff put in front of the main adventure (all the stuff before Orlane as a means of leading the pc into the adventure) and then a few alterations taken regarding the village (not much) and the way to the swamp, but these are all "poetic license" and in my opinion work very well....

Incidentily, the mod author is now looking into a remake of either S3:Expedition to the Barrier Peaks (!) or B4:The Lost City.... He is a fine fellow who genuinely seems to enjoy doing 1e remakes. All the power to him as far as I am concerned!

Bront - B1 was titled "In Search of the Unknown". There was a good re-creation of B1, by the way.... It's available at nwn.ign.com. Good stuff, also with "poetic license" here and there, but nothing "distasteful" per se, or too out of keeping with the original adventure in my opinion.

Eh, no my problem was that I was using Tony K's henchmen AI scripts in my override and that messed up the ambush scene after leavign the Dim Forest. When I emptied the override, it worked the way it was supposed to.

That would explain the twig blight sidequest in a 1e adventure, and a lost monastery to Lathander in Greyhawk... :D

Sounds cool. I've been working on a conversion of the 2e adventure Night Below myself, but the scripting is a real challenge to me. I've found 2 conversions on the Vault, but I'm not going to play either of them until I'm done — don't want them to affect my work.

I know the Vault has conversions of most of the early B series...B1, B2, and B3 at least.

Hey there Orius -

Yes. There is a good B2-3 combo conversion done by a fellow named Tim. I have it but have not played it. I have, however, played other things by the same mod author and usually enjoy what he does - mostly just dungeon crawl with some plot along the edges. I've not seen many other good "B" series conversions, though, which is why I suggested B4 as a possibility. I think it would convert REAL well, especially with the faction options in NWN as applied with the "religious groups" you can join in the upper levels of the Lost City.

Must admit I was kinda puzzled by the Lathander monastery too. Why Lathander? Why not Pelor or Rao? Ah well - poetic license I guess. But I kinda liked the little twig blight and faerie dragon sidequests myself ... :D

I know what you mean about the scripting side of things. I have a huge mental block when it comes to scripting anything. You know about the auto script generator that is out there? Many good mod makers say it is wonderful.... Lilac is the author's name, I think.

If you are also interested, there is a good remake of the Dragon magazine adventure Citadel by the Sea that I just finished the other day. Good, simple stuff very like the original, which was one of my favorite adventures from my "youthful days" ... one of my favorite characters began his career in that adventure - a fighter/magic user named Crow Pathfinder.

I've tried Lilac Soul's script generator, even have it saved in a portfolio on the Vault, it seems to do a lot of really basic scripting functions that I already sort of taught myself to do. Real eay basic types of scripts I can handle, but it's the complex stuff that ties my brain in knots.
