too contrived and ended too soon. :( Even if it is going to be a back story conflict, how are they going to conrol Rush.

Good to see TJ get tough! ;)

Eli...last to know AGAIN...

I just wonder how much she did what she did out of fear and also being used by Rush, she was not the one in charge...she is the Penny character in Lost in Space, always in trouble because of her wants and feelings. She went to Rush to discuss things, she could have gone to TJ.

Good to see how valuable Eli is but sad to see him how caught in the middle he is, not in just the crew but with his friends. Janes needs to help him out, that is a good match.

Eli may be caught in the middle but that doctor woman seems to have some high regard for him, after all she did call him one of their own.

The civilians in general have become very distrustful of the military leadership on the Destiny. And they have reason to.

But no one wants to see anyone killed or hurt, and many on both "sides" are truly friends with those on the other "side".

What I like about Eli's character is his idealism. He isn't on either "side" because he feels that everybody should be pals and work together, and he feels very close to both military and civilians on the ship. But Young respects and encourages Eli, which Eli appreciates despite the demands placed on him. And Eli realizes that Rush manipulates him and others because Rush feels that he knows better due to his big brain. But Eli also realizes Rush does have a big brain and is important to the survival of the crew, despite the fact he is a dick.

So Eli is constantly caught in the middle . . . and the others know this. That's why they didn't include Eli in on their plans for a civilian takeover.

Like many of the loud and so-called "true" SG fans, Eli would prefer that things work they way they did on SG-1 and SG:A! Very little intrapersonal conflict that isn't resolved by episodes end! :)

Chloe went to Rush because they shared an alien abduction experience, and he saved her life. Young decided to fire upon the alien ship, risking Rush and Chloe's lives. Chloe makes this point verbally to Eli in the episode. Why would she go to TJ who is only the ship's doctor and counselor because there is no one more qualified? (Not that I don't love TJ, oh I do . . .) Yes, Rush manipulates her . . . as he does everyone else on the ship . . . but she makes her own decision based on some pretty direct experiences.

I've never understood the "Chloe-haters" amongst the fans (not saying you are one necessarily, Hand). Chloe is a great character! She is the "normal" person caught up in extraordinary events! She makes decisions that "normal" folk just might make under crazy circumstances like being on an alien ship lost in the universe.

Most of the civilians are scientists and other super-smart folks part of a secret international government conspiracy of space exploration and alien interaction through wormholes (Stargate Command)! Eli isn't, but he is a super-genius. The rest are military folks also part of the conspiracy. Chloe is . . . the daughter of a US congressman who was let in on the secret. Chloe is smart, but not a genius. She comes from a well-to-do family with money . . . she's gorgeous . . . and even more so than anyone else on Destiny, she isn't supposed to be there!

I think the writing on this show is excellent, and there isn't a character that I feel "needs to die" as I've heard many times about Chloe on various message boards. I enjoy Chloe's character development just as much as I do the other more "useful" characters on the ship.

Chloe being evil works for me, now we can root for something else other than her being useful.

This "evil" thing is utterly unfathomable to me. How is it that the military guys are "good"? If I was a civilian on the ship -- and especially if I knew about Rush being left on that planet -- the only evil I'd see is the military, who have proven they'll sacrifice you for being inconvenient.

I think in this episode we get the best view yet of the alien pods, so now can we figure out if they are the same as what was seen in the premiere episode?

And yes, calling Chloe "evil" is really a simplification, made possible for me because she's a chararcter who I like less the more I see of her.
