Harb took his standard place a bit ahead the front. He moved silently and kept his eyes peeled for danger. Perhaps it was his distance from the group's combined smells which saved him from the worst of the mosquito swarms.

On the other hand, Galahad can create water and purify food/drink. So we just need to find some barrels of water and some food to purify. (Not to mention, wait a day for spell renewal. )

As for magic Items, Galahad would like the eyes of the eagle. He's got a spot of +7 so advantage will make him a crazy good lookout, and seeing things in detail at range will give him a chance to identify the stuff he sees with his various knowledge skills pretty quickly.

The card expanded in his vision, growing until it filled his vision, the Star itself twinkled and shined, coming to life. And then he was rushing towards the image, traces of light flying past him as he advanced. Slowly the star grew, a pinprick of light solidifying into a circle. Eventually it became impossibly bright, but he couldn't look away. Finally he came to a stop before a giant ball...

Galahad watched Bunny's reaction to drawing the card closely. He was intrigued by all things he didn't yet understand, but this was perhaps the most mysterious of objects he had ever learned of. These decks were dangerous, he knew. But also held such potential as well. As if mesmerized, the cleric drew a single card.

As for the Deck. I'd be prone to not want to give that to him as bad things could happen if the wrong card was drawn. Although, I wonder how Aygury would interact with the deck if we asked about the results in a specific fashion. I.e. "Would it be a good idea for character X to draw y cards from the deck?"

Mord asked for further compensation before they entered the tower and Andruss agreed. I could only see the receipt of the extra as being a bonus for wily negotiators as it could easily disappear if the rolls had gone south. Maybe I'm reaching, but I was hoping for at least enough to get everyone in the party a healing option if they wanted.

Dandin watched the goblin slide off of his rapier leaving the bloodied blade to gleam eerily in the light of the nearby fire. He started at the blade for a good long moment, entranced by the flickering light show. Then he heard the voices coming down the farther hallway and he snapped back to reality. Looking back to the hall at his back he considered it and glanced to the people nearby. "We...

Harb wouldn't kill anyone, but he didn't come all this way to be pressed into anyone's service. Especially without the slightest chance to introduce ourselves properly. If attacked, yeah, he'd defend himself probably using non-lethal means unless given a reason to do otherwise.

Mord had read the situation correctly, and he hid a small smile as they progressed through the city without the slightest problem. Upon being challenged at the entrance to the tower he took it upon himself to reply as be fitted his perceivable position, if perhaps not his actual one. "We have come at the behest of Imami, Sage of Hap on an urgent matter. I believe that we are expected." He...

Also, I'm hoping to wait on Dandin to see what the others do. But he's probably going to set up a bit of 'rear guard' on the other exit to keep us from becoming a hero and greenskin sandwich.

"Indeed..." Mord stood up, ready to go and went to the stables where he prepared and cast a ritual to conjure a nightmare of a horse. The creatures coat was black as coal with bright blue eyes and a mane, and tail, of purple flames. It came equipped for riding and Mord mounted as he waited for his companions to join him. Ritual cast:Phantom Steed. Not an actual nightmare, but Mord loves to...

Harb simply stands to wait, putting a hand out to halt Qwasha. He merely suggested an alternative, not an offer of sacrificing their guide for Breakbone's amusement.

A RL Military commander wouldn't let a bunch of unknowns into their base, let alone trust them to do something important out of the blue.

"Perhaps our guide can help where your scouts have failed. He is knowledgeable of this region and has saved us much trouble on our way here." Harb offered as an alternative. He motioned Qwasha up to inspect the commander's collection of maps. Persuasion: , if necessary.

He did his best to keep it quiet, so as to not bother anyone sleeping in the room at that time. Enseth & the Elves Enseth stomped into the room and ORB2 came out from under the bunks and thrust itself at one of the gambling goblins. While the goblin pushed back its chair and swatted at the little construct, the Shield Guardian slammed his hammer-fist into the filthy creature, crushing it to the ground. The elves ran in and spread out around Angis and Titus. They all fired arrows to wound, rather than kill, as it had been discussed that Dandin would try to lull them to sleep with his magic. Unfortunately, they were trying to be a little too tricky and only two out of six arrows found their mark: Tarthagal shot the goblin with the fire-poker in the shoulder and Ganalan shot the meanest-looking of the goblin gamblers in its arm. Neither goblin fell, and Averiel (to her shame) missed with both her shots, striking a bedpost instead. Just Dandin to go! gargoyleking Damage Taken: (BGs) GoblinGambler1 2; GobGam2 12 (Dead); GoblinFirepoker 10; GoblinBoss1 10 (PCs) None; (NPCs) None Averiel vs Goblins. Maybe she was going easy on them? Attack: 1D20+4 = [1]+4 = 5 1D6+2 = [2]+2 = 4 1D20+4 = [2]+4 = 6 1D6+2 = [1]+2 = 3 Tarthagal vs Goblins. Not much better. Attack: 1D20+4 = [2]+4 = 6 1D8+2 = [8]+2 = 10 1D20+4 = [10]+4 = 14 1D8+2 = [8]+2 = 10 Ganalan vs Goblins. Look what I can do, Dad! (I'll use that unused d8 for the crit. So 10. Attack: 1D20+3 = [20]+3 = 23 1D8+1 = [1]+1 = 2 1D20+3 = [2]+3 = 5 1D8+1 = [8]+1 = 9

Darn it, I completely forgot about the necromancy discussion of a few weeks ago gargoyleking , I wasn't trying to spoil things :( I'm sorry. Mord probably has a lot to teach to Kalorn, seeing how Kalorn doesn't know he himself is a warlock (there was never a formal pact after all). That's what the roleplay is about, Kalorn's ignorance of warlocks, and thus confusing Mord as a necromancer.

Ancalagon Yes, I understand and accept all that. You, as a player, know what happened and have been told what I am thinking. FitzTheRuke Yes, this is also true. Other Sticks had suspicions (or have said they had suspicions) of him, too. Miss Imogen has not betrayed any of the PCs. gargoyleking I don't know what "played her hand way too early" means. We've been with these characters a calendar year at this point. Whatever in-game time has passed, I do not agree that a year into play there is not the opportunity for a significant character choice. No one is discussing my proposal that we keep the ring but not wear it. I also do not have clear indications on whether you want me to walk back the hiding of the ring. Whatever happens, she is not going to lie about it: she will say it is hidden, or she will say that she has it but believes it is better not being worn with us than being worn by Cimber.

... good. No problem. It's interesting, all right. Two things: a case could be made RAW. That the tho for samurai only last as long as the advantage does. I donít think that is the intention, but I see that reading. I can find a thread that discussed it if you are interested. I'll go read it. I see what you mean, but I think it's a stretch. You gain Temp HP when you use your focus. You lose 'em through battle, or after a long rest like the usual rules. Also, I donít know if Miss Imogen gets any more opportunities to save against the ring. Right! Let me check. Yup. She does! After [roll0] HOURS. Feel free to deprotagonize me, if that makes the fight go smoother. Otherwise I will keep going. No way to avoid the opp attack, but additional distance might avoid other attacks from the party (unless they run to Miss Imogenís Defense, naturally). Good thing my map keeps going! She can go into the statue, but she might get caught in there, so she'd probably avoid it. gargoyleking, Harb can make an Opportunity Attack against her, unless you already rolled one too many. I don't know if you used that Ki point or not.

Oh I wasn't asking you to justify the score, just commenting on how good he was (sometimes "tone" is hard on a forum, sorry!). It would make sense that a mystic has highly developed senses. Kalorn is just wary - been ambushed a few times. He can sort of see in the dark/invisible creatures with his familiar. I guess the real question is how Sesto will react when he catches on... gargoyleking: clearly I don't have a high perception score since I don't remember much about where that dagger came from (maybe it was a part of the adventure where Mord and Udit weren't together?) or how it works. Does it need corpses for replacement, or victims?

Well, that's six out of the eight of you. I only seem to have five characters in the RG, though. Let's see... I need a level 8 Mord posted, I believe gargoyleking. And if hbarsquared is still in, we need Windspeaker posted to the RG as well. And if Prickly Pear is in, a level 8 version of Sesto or SnorLoska (though I suspect Setso is best). I'm starting on my prep work.

Enseth, ORB2, & Angis vs Worg1 Enseth strode out of the bushes and a beam of bright light shot out of his chest at a Worg that was rushing toward him. The light seared the wolf-like-creature's face, and remained, lighting up weak spots as ORB2 dove down repeatedly shocking the creature's ears, distracting it. The beast leaped up, slamming both front paws onto Enseth's shield as Angis burst out of the brush. The Dwarf hacked a shallow blow into the beast's brow-ridge with his axe, and then, as Enseth's light showed vulnerability in the creature's snarling snout, he slammed his thick-fingered fist into the beast's nose. The Worg snorted, then as its eyes rolled back showing whites, it fell on the ground, stunned into unconsciousness. It went down from a punch, so I'll say it's alive, but KO'd. BTW, Dandin has not gone for this round, gargoyleking. Damage Taken (BGs) Worg1 21, 5, & 3 (KO'd) (PCs) None Worg1 vs Enseth (missed) Attack: 1D20+5 = [3]+5 = 8 2D6+3 = [6, 6]+3 = 15

I also know a lot of the players had multiple PCs and got to see more of the adventure. It was a different experience for me because I really didn't know what was going on in the rest of the dungeon. One day I'll have to read the other threads. I find it astounding that you rant that in real time with multiple groups - were they multiple GMs? gargoyleking: Bobranthus rubbed Udit the wrong way, I wonder if they would have overcome that... the one I'm the most upset about losing is Kurzon - until the player dropped off the face of the earth, he was a good contribution to the game. In a way it's worse than a PC death. Hope the player's ok... I'm sure that hbarsquared 's NOPATHUK WINDSPEAKER will be a worthy replacement :)

(RG) Rise of the Dracolich: Imani's Tower (IC) Rise of the Dracolich I may be a sucker for punishment, but I'm gonna do it. This is a thread to discuss the possibilities of a sequel to my Vault of the Dracolich game. It's probably full, as I will give dibs to the players of that game, but if enough of them are tapped for games I will open up a spot or two. (Let me know if you're new to it and want dibs on any spot that opens up.) This will be a mashup of stuff pulled mostly from Rise of Tiamat, mixed with some other stuff. @Ancalagon @EarlyBird @Fradak @gargoyleking @Prickly Pear @tglassy You are all, of course, invited to play, but you are under no obligation to. If you've got enough on your plate already, and (like me) were looking forward to the break when Vault ended, feel free to drop out. We can always work you in again at another time, too, if you like. We will be starting at level 8. In most cases, I assume that will mean levelling up your current Vault character, but feel free to make a new character. 500gp budget and 1 uncommon item. Array stats, but feel free to move a point or two here and there with point-buy. I will make a new RG, but for now, let's just talk about who's in, and who you want to play. (I would like a bit of a break, so I don't think we will actually start until August, but you never know. I'm obviously already thinking about it more than I should.)

Just to alert the others: River Song Shayuri Fradak gargoyleking If everyone comes back, weíll just pick up where we left off and continue the fight. Perhaps Neuroticís character could fall from the sky at that moment, lending aid. I can also skip past the fight. But, that means you lost, and will have to live with that. And it may not go well for you if you choose that route. If not enough come back, or if those that do want to make new characters, then Iíll assume this ship was lost at sea. The choice is yours. And Neurotic, you may join and create your Warlock. If you are an angel of some kind, youíve been severely depowered because of the Faith Sickness, which is why you are mortal, but the rest of the story is up to you. We can work you in pretty quickly.

Sesto, SnorLoska, Aquaria & Auraia Sesto and SnorLoska got themselves into position near the Teleportation Circle. Everyone was keen to go, but unsure as to if they would be needed, so they lingered outside the circle, which would immediately send them to Imani's basecamp on the nearby mountain. Sesto's Angels stood in a line between him and the dragon, swords held to their foreheads. Aquaria and Auraia also got into position, ready to execute a quick plan involving teleportation. It was only Mord, who lingered near the staff. Just @gargoyleking to chime in. Is Mord going to jump back down and head for the circle or go for the staff himself, or what? He is, after all, right in front of it.

Great. Iíd like to see if the crystal staff answers him, but heíll likely be trying that as well. It will. I just want to roll the round over first. Lots has happened with Terrus this round. I'm just gonna get some other stuff done first. Speaking of which. I don't think Aquaria has done anything this round yet. I just gotta clear up a few things so I can roll the round over: @gargoyleking - At the time Torbin and Mord move into the Vault, they can only see the same niche that SnorLoska is running for. The other niche can only be seen from the other side of the rift. There are two ways around the rift: The left, which you'd have to try to jump over right in front of a Dracolich simulacrum who will probably kill you. OR the right, slipping past the far side. Unfortunately, this puts you furthest away from the niche that no one has seen yet. (Udit and SnorLoska will both spot it as soon as they are not focused on the other niche). If it's okay with you, I'm going to assume that they both go the long way around together, even though you suggested they split up. As soon as they get to the far side of the rift, they can split up like you posted, having spotted both niches by then. Okay? One other thing: If they dash, they can go all the way around, but one, the other, or both of them will be adjacent to the StoneFace at the top right. (unless they want to hold back a bit). ...

Gimme a persuasion, a deception, and an insight roll and some basic guidelines on your tactics. If you want to write an RP post, please go ahead, but don't assume if you rolled low that you necessarily did something stupid. (I will often use low rolls to introduce complications, as opposed to making the character look like a fool).

I had a friend who used to play with what he called a Deck 20. Basically 1-10 of 2 suits of playing cards with a Joker to act as a reshuffle. One suit was the 11-20. Reduced the randomness considerably. This is great for dealing with constant bad luck, but less so for swingyness. For that you need to replace the d20 with 2d10 or 3d6... but that can have very big repercussions, so it's not a step to take lightly.

Mord has known Armor in the past. Since he never really used it, he forgot it for something else. Kalorn's Thunderstep ability reminds him of his Dimension Door spell as well. Ah, but Dimension door is a also a wizard spell. It also existed in my 2e PHB, it's a proper meat and potato spell, not this crazy newfangle stuff! (ie it doesn't smell warlocky). I'm sure sooner or later he'll be blasting with EB. But the spell I'm excited about is Shadow of Moil.

Okay, does he not have a pact?He does - or more precisely, his leg does. It belonged to a champion of the Raven Queen (ie a hexblade), that was grafted on Kalorn in a mad experiment. Kalorn believes that the leg is fiendish, but he's wrong. So far the patron has not made itself manifest. When this happens I leave to the GM.

Harb can do the damage, but he can't keep up with her if she can do that bonus move every turn.I think that it's limited use? But the PCs may not know this

I never used Armor of Agathys either. Maybe at a lower level, but Mord relies on his tanks and tricks for defense. He's a glass cannon otherwise.Oh it's not a good spell for your character concept, but it works for Kalorn for now. In 2 levels he will be switching to shadow of moil, which is amazing for a gish.

Probably why I've never really bothered. That, and the limited spell slots. It might just go away at level 9 anyways. Yup. One defensive spell (armor of agathys), one other spell (movement or battle field control) and.... no more slots. Sure you get them back quickly but... Making 2 multi-class warlock has been a real eye opener in seeing why the warlock is used for multi-classing purposes so often. It makes an excellent dip, and a dip in something else can also be very beneficial to stiffen/broaden the character. edit: getting a bit off-topic though, sorry about that!
