[Suggestion]Make forks use permalinks

If the fork button generated posts with links using the permalink function, it would make the fork functionality much easier to use.

For instance, I know you can't fork into a new forum. When you copy the generated fork post into a new thread (in the new forum) the link breaks - apparently the current fork link format only works inside the same forum (for some strange reason).

If the fork were to use the "permalink" link format (that is, the SEO'ed url with the hashmark'd post reference) instead this would make forks much more useful.

Cheers,
CZ

The fork thread hack is a hack we sinstalled for the previous version of the boards. When the boards were upgraded it stopped working correctly; but we don't know why (we're not coders, unfortunately). We might look for an altermnative forked thread hack.

Sinstall [n]. A surreptitious install, done quickly and with a minimum of preparation and compatibility testing. Sinstalls are often piggybacked on top of larger, more elaborately planned installs. While a sinstall may appear to work correctly, it is liable to break if the underlying install changes in the future.
