You have arrived in the dreary town of Alderfall, a once bustling town that is no longer so active. You have been escorting a small caravan from the far eastern reaches of the kingdom to this once major rest stop. Most caravans try to pass through quickly but most have to stop at this rest area. Unfortunatly for you, your caravan master has informed you that he has had to abruptly cancel your contract due to financial troubles. He has paid you half your agreed amount for getting him half way. He leaves you on the eastern edge of town. He points you in the direction of the Loaded Purse Inn and the White Lion Fort. The streets are lined with the poor, the sick, and the dying. Those who are still alive go about there business in a dreary mood. Smiles are few and far apart. The Guards have a strong presence patrolling in two and five man units. They carry off the dead and keep the criminals at bay, sometimes.

I need knowledge checks now please and go ahead and discuss, travel, explore the town.

Deven tosses his backpack over his shoulders and takes up the sack at his feet. He watches the carvan pull off heading to set up somewhere near but away from town. Bye Trefor, he thinks to himself and then turns to look at the cesspit he has been left in.
Brushing his hands through his sandy hair, he trys to remember what he had heard of Alderfall before seeing it for the first time. then takes the sack in both hands and throws it over a shoulder, stooping his already small 5'10" frame.
Thoward finishes packing away his chain shirt, metal cap, and shield, and looks towards the town with a bitter smile, trying to see the positives in this but failing hard. He wonder if he hasn't heard the name Alderfall before, but thinks that he may be thinking of something similiar. While looking around for someone who seems important to know of, such as a captain of the guard or a noble, he scratches his short beard and thinks that a bath would be really, really nice now. A bath and a big meal...
So, whatcha think? he askes Deven with an ironic smile. Great luck as always, isn't it?

"I think we should keep one eye on our purses and one on the road ahead," Deven replies. "This place feels funny."
Looking around deven frowns at the small town. "Well come on we can't get anything done standing around." And taking his own words to heart Deven sets out for a place to find a place eat, and maybe a new job.
The group stands around in the smell of filth anf disease. As they ponder over where to go they remember somethings of importance. First they realize that this is a mjor rest spot for caravans, second Their has been an economic depression which caused a rise in crime, sickness, and disease, and third Goblins at one time lived int he region before being wiped out. There are several signs around that point to the White Lion Fort and Loaded Purse Inn. The inhabitants line the road begging for everything. A heavy air lies on the town, and it is physically dark and damp with heavy rainfalls every few days, and clouds of flies feasting on the rot.
Titus shrugged his shoulders to reseat his backpack and pick.
"Well, then, I say we get out of the rain and find something to eat, yeah?" the wide-shouldered ranger says.
Leaning down to the wolf at his side, he adds "Then we can get some nice scraps for you, huh, Viktor?" he pats the wolf's side roughly and knuckle-rubs its head. "You'd like that, right, boy? Right?"
Then he points into town. "Anyway. I vote food. Anyone got a different vote?"
"Out of the rain is the best ideal yet," Deven replies. "And away from the smell would be nice. I say The Loaded Purse is a good omen. It gets my vote." Deven checks the dagger up his sleeve just to be sure that it is there.
OOC: Whose the face man here I think we could save time if we have a lead to follow and just post if someone strongly disagrees.
"Hot food sounds great, and hopefully they have decent mead too. Lead the way, Deven.
He grabs his pack, ready to follow when someone heads for the inn. He grumbles a bit, trying to chase away some of the rain with his torn mantle, but realizes that he's already wet through and through. "Tomorrow, I'm buying a new cloak. A nice one in wool. This darned weather's killing me."
OOC: I vote for Deven, he's the charismatic people person. Or Viktor, when we're at the zoo. He seems to be the animal person
[hidden]I suppose everyone's going to the inn and post again in your absence. Hope you get back soon :3[/hidden]
When the party reaches the inn, Thoward walks straight to the innkeeper, or if he isn't around, the barmaid. Greetings! Name's Thoward and me'n my friends here are wet and cold, and we need a room for the night. Are there any available?
He also orders soup, bread, and mead, and sits down by a table. He looks around the common room, trying to see what's up this evening and if there's anything extra interesting here.
As the group enters they hear a soft song in a foreign langusage. Upon looking for the source of the sweet sound the party sees no ones lips moving. The song overcomes you with a solemness (DC12 WILL CHECK) The bartender looks at Thorward and his companions. "Thats 8 silver crowns. I got a room upstairs, a gold throne a head boy." The bartender pulls up the hot food and a rustic key (DC 15 spot check)
At the corner of the bar is a grizzled man, going on in a voice just enough to hear a few words of some mysterious going ons and The Order. His drink splashes around out of his cup until he settles down and asks for another drink.

The music really gets to Deven. Usually always ready to jest and to have a good time the young man looks at the bartender and notices the key he has. "That is awful steep priceing for your newest best customers, my good sir." he says in all seriousness. "Who else here in this little town could give you as much busniess as me and my friends?" he asks shaking his coin pouch with impudence.

will = 3 uh oh
spot = 23 what's he got????
and should I try diplomacy?
Deven feels inclined to give the old man a crown. As he places it on the table the man says, "Third room on the right up the stairs in the corner, and keep it down!" Deven notices three small inscriptions that have a faint blue glow to them on the key. The dwarven sript is a warning to not take this key without permission, a threat of misfortune to whoever takes this key, and a greeting, which appears to be in a later form of Dwarven and added to the key after it was made. It feels heavy and is a cast iron color. It has a small leather lanard at the end and sits on the table.
The music catches Thoward as well, and he somewhat drift off at his table, putting the spoon to his mouth, relaxing after the hard journey and forgetting all about his wet clothes. He feels quite drowsy, finally being able to rest and get some hot food, and doesn't even notice the key.
As Thorward settles down he begins to fin himself willing to pay for more and more drink. He is overcome with a feeling of guilt, that he should pay more for the meal before feeling better.
Titus shakes off the feeling himself and notices the old grizzled man getting up again and looking at the group before getting on again with his rants. "That Calvus will be the death of us! If he don't stop that damned Order, then who will? I'm telling you these are dark times my man!" The bartender continues on his nightly duties of cleaning cups and wiping the counter.
Viktor followed Titus into town, remaining quiet for the most part. Most people of the realm did not take kindly to wolves that spoke. It seemed to be some sort of stigma or something, despite his dedication to protecting the natural lands.
At Titus's mention of scraps, he grumbled inwardly, giving him a look that was clearly not pleased. He kept alert despite the rain dousing his skin. He also looked into his memory as to the region.
I'm assuming Tidus KNOWS Viktor isn't a normal wolf, if he doesn't, I can tweak things and have him learn it later. Also, another question for Erwin... is Viktor and his companion going to be allowed inside the inn? Other checks pending whether Viktor is present inside the inn or not. Apologies for the delay.

Well, are dogs allowed in Holiday Inn? Probably not unless you convince him otherwise. Dont forget to post your character sheet in the RG section fully filled out. Most people just don't care anymore, but animals trotting around inside is a turn off for business.

Well, might be WORSE for business if two wolves park themselves outside the Inn's front door, without an attending human. >.> But I digress, I've no problem with Viktor being outside, just lemme know when I'm needed, lol.
Edit: That reminds me, I oughta get my companion sorted out too. Will get on that shortly.
