New Campain Setting

I'm working on a New setting for an upcoming campaign. It's based off the semi-fact that a lot of different creatures benefit from the consumption of humanoids, but each individually needs many more humanoids to keep it alive. So what if they realized this and and decided to work together to farm humanoids. Illiathids get the brains, Vampires get the blood, Ghouls get the leftover corpses, and some other undead work in whatever else they need. I'm thinking of adding demons to get the souls, and explaining that the undead & aberration founders made a deal with a demon lord or archdevil, the souls of the farmed humanoids for a place in the Abyss in which to build a city. I'm sort of stuck now though, any ideas would be great.

I could see this working more as a location in a campaign. This location could span many levels though. An ancient castle located in a chasm in the mountains where partols of undead are sent forth to the neighboring lands to gather creatures. They could also gather things like orcs and trolls to harvest- which could explain things if your party has odd creatures in it.

Low level partys can encounter these patrols and others who may have heard of them. Investigate locations where the intelligent undead in power are seeking artifacts of a bygone age to assemble the unltmate weapon, or some sort of protection for them. By the time the party is mid level they can start to gather allies from other towns or make forays into the mountains to outposts and begin to see the workings of the harvest.

One of the 'Blade' movies had a room where humans were in shrinkwrap with blood dripping into containers. They were hanging from hooks like slabs of meat in the 'Rocky' movies. It gives good description of the horror and mind of the evil behind the schemes.

Higher levels can have the party assault the main base of evil. Some of the surrounding town/ barons have pacts with the BBEG and need to be overcome, esp. if the baron's men keep tipping off the evil of where the party is . Side quests can include finding a lost item that could aid in the destruction of the castle. Going to the shadowplane and destroying the keep there which would allow you to finally destroy the evil here.

A processed food industry for a fantasy realm? AWESOME!

Make Drow the main procurers of living humanoids for "The Farm" and you have a fairly complete industry. You could even have different houses specializing in the capture of different kinds...and some who just "farm raise" humanoids in slave pit farms.

Which, of course, would taste different from "wild caught"- and I mean that for all parts intended for consumption (even the souls)- but would be a more reliable supply overall.

How about take out?

What if one of these powers involved has the ability to create portals? Then have a new portal form around an area the players already care about. They start gathering people to take back with them and the players have to stop it and go and get the people back.
