Welcome to EN World. A link would have been nice for us lazy people so here it is. I have to say, I'm liking the Battle Boards by Longtooth Studios better. The price is better and I prefer black lines. That textured map by Great Victory looks really sweet though!

I bought a set of 12 back when they were originally out. They are, by far, the best gaming product I have ever purchased. Even though they are more expensive than when I bought them, mine have lived through the beating I have given them for 4 years. I also love going to cons and watching others marvel at some of the layouts, as they can be predrawn then laid out as the party explores.

You can see a simple layout with assemblies of some jenga blocks & poster putty to keep it together. I also use Dungeon Tiles pasted on them, then draw in secret rooms/traps/levels as they are discovered. Often I keep two versions of the same tile - one for the players to see and explore, then the other once things start to go down. To me, you have to have a little surprise instead of giving away the whole map (shame on you DMs at the cons that let us study the maps to romp all over the adventures).

Even better, you don't need to by more when a new edition is released.

I checked out the ebay link, and I have to say I'm a bit skeptical.

I'm not saying that this won't be a good product, but there are some things in the auction that raise a few flags for me.

The picture on the auction is definitely a copy of a pic that was on the original Tact-Tiles site, but there is a note that these new tiles won't work with the old ones? The tiles are essentially puzzle pieces, and I'm curious as to how the new ones could be marketed with the name and depiction of the old ones, yet not be compatible.

The auction is listed as a pre-order and that after this limited time the tiles will only be available through retail outlets? They are sorry but they don't have pictures of the actual product?

I wouldn't order something like this without a bit more information about what I was really getting.

Once again, I'm not saying this product won't turn out to be a great product, but my Caveat Emptor meter is twitching.

Wow, this company is in Vancouver, and that's where YOU'RE posting from! Who would have thought it? What are the odds?

Look, if you want to promote a product come and join our community. Post a press release in the Publisher's forum (where this thread will end up.) Buy an ad. Talk about your product. But this sort of condescending "I'm not actually connected with the company, nope, not at all!" post only ticks me off, and that's sad, because Tac-Tiles were an excellent product and the products on the GVW site look gorgeous and very cool.

Upon reflection, thread moved but not closed. Please feel free to email me (you can click on my user name) if I'm in error about your company connection.

EDIT: Turns out you don't have the license or the right to the name, either. Sleazy. Thread closed.

I find this a little bit suspicious. Do you actually have the license/copyright to make Tact-Tiles or are you just making a product similar to Tact-Tiles and calling them the same thing, hoping to cash in by trading offf a known brand?

A few months ago someone was on these forums stating that they had bought the license to make Tact-Tiles again. That poster was not yourself so it does raise a red flag for me.

This is absolutely correct. These people do not own the Tact-Tiles name and are not producing Tact-Tiles. I am a co-owner of the company who now owns Tact-Tiles (Imagineering Inc.).

Folks, I can assure you, these people are not legit, and we will be contacting them ASAP.

EDIT: In fact, you can follow the progress of the real Tact-Tiles in this thread: http://www.enworld.org/forum/general-rpg-discussion/249208-tact-tiles-return.html
