[4e] [ePoL] Heroic Souls IC (R6 Heian > Monsters > Eldan&Champy > Quinn > Silvi > )

The creature's grip is firm, fibrous and leathery at the same time. Its "mouth" wiggles in response, but lacking anything like a vocal apparatus no sound emerges.

[sblock=Eldan]Even so you hear something, along with the sensation of a strong tugging at your heart.
be back...
You are sure that this creature is a heroic soul, who was always a dwarf, and very closely linked to you. You feel an immediate sense of closeness and relaxation in "his" presence.

Insight: The creature in front of you, while it certainly contains your dear friend, does not seem to be "all there". It doesn't seem to really react to the content of your words.[/sblock]

Everyone feels a sense of tugging from the creature, it is obviously a heroic soul. Though it doesn't seem to be able to speak.

Quinn approaches the creature, inquisitively. Scratching his beard, he watch the fungi-man with amazed eyes.
"Indeed, indeed you do my strange friend. I fear that we can't hear you, please, if you understand my words, would you be so kind as to draw a dash in the dirt, with your club?" Quinn makes a gesture towards a places of clean dirt in the ground.

The stubby fellow looks at Quinn for a moment. Then seizes the wizard's hand in an almost painfully firm grip, mimicking the same greeting it used on Eldan a earlier.

After having helped Neeloo to come out of the water, Heian says to the others: I think he's trying to tell us something...

Quinns eyes twich in pain as "Champy" crushes his fragile finguers.
The Wizard speaks to Heian "I do think he is just greeting us, he does not seem to understad a word we say. But tell me my friends, do you have the same feeling I have towards him? I feal the same way I felt when we were near the Big Green. I wonder..."

"Champy" goes around greeting everyone the with the same firm grip starting with Heian. Once it's done it stands nearby nearly motionless, with its massive petrified wood club resting on its shoulder.

[sblock=Insight]Your passive insight is 17. Figuring out that he can't talk/has little to communicate is either a perception 15 (the "mouth hole doesn't go anywhere") or an insight 15 (he's repeating the same action with everyone).[/sblock]

[sblock=Its name]
If Eldan doesn't come up with something else, he's officially named Champy.
Unless Champy is a curse word in some language. Then he's not named champy.

I googled and it didn't seem to mean anything.[/sblock]

Around you the river flows slowly. Looking at the town or the castle is difficult, it's almost like your eyeballs want to roll away and look at something else. That effect makes it difficult to see how the ritual the Geeche was enacting is progressing; though the texture of the black clouds over the town seems unnatural.

It's a few hours till dawn.

Quinn remains next to Champy, studying his behavior and movements (or lack of them) until he notices the black clouds over the town. He sighs perceptibly. "So it seems the Geeche has began his ritual" Quinn states with concern in his voice

FYI: I name it Champy for Champignon

Still not sure what to make of his fungal friend, yet definitely strengthened by its unexpected arrival, Eldan looks up at Quinn's words. His gaze goes back to the town and he tries not to think about the family he left there. Aye, it begins. I hope we find something that we can do to fix all of this. He looks morosely at the bodies on the ground. Although I guess we haven't really gotten off to a great start.

"Release your heart of such burden my friend, this was not something we could have avoided. They may look human now, but remember they were creatures of shadow and darkness, and they attacked us and try to kill us all. If we were to fall under their claws and jaws, they would remain cursed, at least now they are free." Quinn says, patting Eldans shoulder.
