Forked Thread: Dragon 374 ToC

Well for Urban Fey you can have stuff like:
  • Using illusions to make mazes out of back alleys.
  • Has some control of urban animals; I could see Willard being a crazed Fey who controls rats.
  • Since it is so populated I could see many, urban Fey specializing even more in kidnapping.
  • The sewers could have a whole Fey kingdom.

Come on Elan, for the Race PHB3 Playtest!

I also agree Rechan, I would like to see some Fey stuff not related to seasons, or specifically nature as well.
The Eladrin Archfeys seem season-y, but I don't think that's nearly as true for other fey. In particular, (and especially given the setup they got in MotP) I think that an evil Fomorian Archfey is just begging to be statted out and made the BBEG of a Paragon- or Epic-tier mega adventure in 4E; that kind of villain could become an icon in D&D, the way Ace-Rack* did thanks to Tomb of Horrors.

*Note: Deliberately misspelled to save face.

I'll agree on the thri-kreen because it is the one race whose likely racial would need playtesting (their extra pair of arms!).

If it is thri-kreen, would that confirm Darksun as the 2010 Setting?

Sand whips across the desert, blasting a few hide tents. The inhabitants, a group of insectlike humanoids, take shelter as the storm passes.

Could just be stretching a connection here though

I just cannot think easily of a race that would require a playtest. And if preview material takes place of a dragon article, I'll be somewhat pissed at WotC.
There was a guess at the WotC boards about Illumians for the playtest and them being changed so they fit hybrid classes well (like they were good for multiclassing in 3.5). That could also be decent in conjuction with the playtest article for hybrids though still a stretch. Only other race I could think off that would need a playtest is centaurs and I am against large quadruped adventurers unless a campaign is specifically designed to handle them (and a Core book cannot and should not make such assumptions).

1. You mean, other than thri-kreen?

2. Huh? What? Future-tense will be? I don't understand. You already have the table of contents...

I mean other than thri-kreen and by preview material I mean something that belongs in an Excerpt article instead of a playtest article.

Well, looking at my master list of races for possible inclusion to 4E, only two or three really stand out as needing play testing. I mean, if they didn't need it for warforged, devas or goliaths, then it's either thri-kreen, dromites or doppelganger/changelings.
And as far as a non seasonal fey, the Coure of Mischief is in MM2.
