A bump button!

I doubt there much point posting this, since Spoo' bard is outa town. But on the Black isle boards they had a bump button, and it work good, real good, after seeing the stat of otu's thread on General it might be good, and I don't think it would be server intensive.

It might be abused though....

Now I'm throwing around random ideas (maybe just food for though, inedible food mind you) about a probation status, as a warning state, limited posting abilites to stop posting (only once ever 5 minutes) and no bump button, etc.

I dunno if it'd be worth it though.

Only if it comes with a "badda-bow, badda-bing" sound effect when bumped.

And if you bump a thread too many times, it goes TILT and locks!

We have one on the moderators menu, but I can certainly see room for abuse if it was generally used. We'll mull it over. My inclination is to keep encouraging folks to post something substantive when they want to bump something.

Out of curiosity, how does the one on your mod's menu work?

It moves the time stamp of a thread up to the current time. We almost never use it, though -- there's seldom a need.

That does seem a bit odd -- stickies and just bumping seem like they'd do the trick.
