Awakened Animal Question

If an Awakened animal mates with another Awakened animal (of the same species)
would the offspring be Awakened as well?

What about a mating between an Awakened animal and a normal animal of the same
species? Would the offspring be Awakened, have a normal intelligence score for the
species or an average of the different scores?

I was just thinking that this would be a good way of new magical "races" to get a start.

I would say no, sins the int tha awakend animal has is magical, and not natruel. and thus the int is not in the gens.

but maby if you had a magical beast, and awekend it, having it mate with a nother awakend magical beast..........???

Getting into that already involves house rules, since magical beasts can't be Awakened. Given that, it would have to come down to a ruling made by the DM that allowed Awakening magical beasts.


In answer to the original question, the rules don't adress it. There was a big thread on these boards a few months ago discussing it. IIRC, no decision was ever reached. However, if you decide to allow it you will have to somehow explain why it is that every single animal in your game world hasn't been awakened like that.
