Dragonstar: Return to the Barrier Peaks

Something crossed my mind today. Dragonstar could be used to play Expedition to the Barrier Peaks from the opposite perspective. What do you think?

From Expedition to the Barrier Peaks:

"Sometime else, a large exploration-colonization expedition of human origin was overtaken in the course of its journey by a deadly plague. In a vain effort to halt the spread of the virus, the modular sections of the vessel were sealed and then separated, each left to its own fate."

As it turns out, a saboteur was aboard. He had released the potent designer virus, which was exceptionally resistant to both scientific and magical treatment, in a plot to sabotage a diplomatic mission between two planets so as to start a war. His plot was discovered not too long after the ship modules were seperated, a cure was engineered based on files found in his databanks, the surviving passengers and crew were saved, and a war was averted. Unfortunately, one of the sections of the ship had drifted into a black hole after the seperation and was never recovered.

That was over 70 years ago.

Now, after all of these years, the distress beacon for the lost ship section has suddenly started transmitting from a remote and little explored quadrant of the Outlands. It is speculated that perhaps planet natives might have activated the dormant beacon without realizing what they were doing.

Bronnag Thurgen is only man still living that was present during that ill fated voyage. He is now a rather old man of questionable health. The party has been commissioned by the Search and Rescue division of the Imperial Armed Forces to investigate the crash site. Essential evidence pertaining to the saboteur was never found, and it is suspected that some of it may have been on board this portion of the ship, which included the biology labs in which the virus was cultured. Bronnag, who is the only man now living who knows about the ship, it's contents, it's access codes, and it's layout, is to serve as a guide.

The adventure might not be over if the evidence is found and returned though, as it turns out the person who hired the adventures was actually an imposter and the evidence acquired will be used to fuel the dubious political ambitions of his secret employers.

No to mention that someone might want to get their hands on a sample of that virus in order to reverse engineer it...
