Dark Sun 3.5 - Trail of the Defiler

The thri-kreen, recovering from his failed charge, swings wildly at Heartseer. The pterran easily steps out of range and calls forth a blob of ectoplasm from the Astral plane. With a practiced flick, Heartseer sends the ectoplasm flying at the thri-kreen. It smacks into the center of his carapace, sending sticky tendrils throughout his arms and legs. It falls over, struggling to escape the its bounds. As Heartseer runs, he sees the other two kreen heading back over. They seem more concerned with aiding their entangled packmate, however, and Heartseer is able to make it back to camp without further attacks. He does see that the thri-kreen have dragged off the body of the guard with the broken jaw.

The camp is chaotic, with half of the caravan still sleeping, others just waking up with terror, and the guards yelling and waving their weapons. The armed guards try to effectively mount a defense, but no one seems to really know what is happening yet. The surviving dwarf is attempting to explain what happened to the captain, a female human in her early thirties named Jovleen Muhduz. Jovleen, with alternating looks at the dwarf and out into the wilderness, seems to be trying to achieve an idea of enemy numbers and positions with little success. The dwarf is nearly hysterical in his account.

Darkclaw starts shredding the giant hair bindings with the jagged teeth of his thanak. With Ugg pulling on them with his massive strength, they snap in moments. Just as Darkclaw and Ugg turn toward the source of the commotion, they hear an odd sound much closer behind them. Curvic sees them a moment earlier. Four thri-kreen pounce from behind the giant roller of the wagon. They hope to take you by surprise but you have just enough time to be ready for them. They are clustered close together, three wielding nothing but their claws, the fourth whirling a double-head gythka. They are about ten feet away when you notice them closing for combat.

Darkclaw sets up for the approaching 'kreen, and manifests his Force Screen(1PP).

"To arms! 'Kreen in the camp!" he cries.

Quaketongue pulls up short as a new cry sounds, not from off the edge of the camp, but from within it. The danger clearly nearer now, Quaketongue pushes himself and Dawnsprint in the new direction.

[sblock=OOC]Not sure how close the sleeping quarters are to Darkclaw, Ugg, and Curvic, but Quaketongue and Dawnsprint will Run (120' per round) toward them until Quaketongue is at least in sling range (50'). I'll decide on followup actions at that point[/sblock]

OOC: Erianna and Quaketongue can enter the combat by the wagon next round. Both of you can decide at what range you want to engage, for Quaketongue is only about 60 feet from the thri-kreen by the wagon when he stops running and Erianna's tent is about 40 feet away. I'll roll you initiatives when you enter the combat.

*Erianna concentrates on the Way and brings forth a power to fight the Thri-Kreen.*

(OOC: Erianna positions herself so that all the Thri-Kreen are just in range of a Swarm of Crystals and then lets loose for 4d4 damage in a small cone(no save or roll required, just damage). If she can't hit at least three, she will instead summon an Astral Construct II with +1 AC and 1d8 Damage dice)

Kurvic stays behind the group and shouts encouragements to all. "Protect the wagon! Without it we are stuck in the desert! Remember, your life may be distilled in this very moment. Fight and fight well, for this night may be the last you are remembered by. If you fall, it will be with glory and your name will exit forever!"

Kurvic remains on the wagon and will stay behind some cover. He'll shoot with arrows any Kreen that tries to get close to the wagon.

OCC 1: Use of bardic music ability to inspire courage (+1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects, +1 morale bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls) to all allies within earshot.

OCC 2: I'm assuming that the fact that Kurvic is on the wagon implies that he is on higher ground (+1 to hit). Also, cover will give him +4 bonus to AC.

Ugg The SkullCrusher

Ugg's smile reaches from ear to ear as he watches his binds fall happlessly to the ground. "Thanks Darkbeak", he says to his small friend. He frantically looks around for his weapons before being jumped by the Thri-Kreen. "Grr... Bugs! YOU NO HURT SMALL FRIENDS!!" His chaotic nature quickly overruns his mind. Clenching his large fists he immiedately goes after the weapon wielding Thri-kreen. Looking to take its weapon as his own. "ROAR!! UGG SMASH!! GRRRR"

OOC: Unarmed strike only if his weapons are no were to be found. Otherwise he will use his Macahuitl, Gr (Att +9) (Dam 3d6+16 19-20x3). If targets are 10' feet away he will use AoO on the weapon wielding Thri-Kreen.
