Can fire/water/air elementals be grappled?

Are these elementals essentially shapeless and fluid enough to effortlessly escape such attacks? Can they squeeze through tiny cracks much like creatures in gaseous form? I'm aware that they have grapple scores, but I'm having trouble imagining how a humanoid could hope to grab ahold of a cyclone and pin it to the floor. I could imagine two elementals wrestling perhaps... Just wondering what people think about this.

Quick answer: Yes, they can be grappled.

Think of it this way: can a non-magical weapon damage an air elemental? (yes.) How? (it's solid enough to hit, despite being made of air.)

If it has a Grapple modifier listed in the Monster Manual, then it can be grappled.

What about squeezing through cracks? Are elementals fluid?

As written? No.

Sounds to me like you want to apply an "ooze" template to elementals. Go for it!
