Reminds me of this great book I have -- Wasn't The Future Wonderful?. It's a collection of 19th and very early 20th century )pre-WWI -- that breaking-point of history) views of what the world would be like between 1950 and 2000. Some of it was meant to be humourous, some of it serious, a little of it was fairly close, and a lot of it was amusingly way off (man, do I miss personal-dirigible bicycles!).

Great material for Forgotten Futures and Castle Falkenstein, though.

Interesting indeed.

I was more hoping for a paleontological perspective of what earth would have been like if a different sort of life form evolved and how their culture might look from our technological standpoint.
