TMP Places of interest

First Post
These are places of business that are run by characters, places of employment for characters, or just frequented by characters.
(I know there is another TMP Business thread, but, it's been so long since that was touched, that I was advised to start a new one. If anyone who has a business on that previous thread is still around and the business should still be open, please, let me know and I'll get info moved onto one thread. Just to keep this organized, please, email me the info for any business you want to add. I'll put it in this main area, in a handy dandy category. loofsydobon_At_yahoo.com)

Restaurants

Angelo's -A family run American style Italian place. Price range is reasonable. Besides having great food and a good family atmosphere, Angelo's has another claim to fame. One of the few table arcade games from the early 1980's that is still in functioning condition graces this simple resturant.

Francine's - A catch all style. Everything from pizza to pancakes. The major part of the regular menu is breakfasts. Each chef has their own specialty, so such specials will vary from day to day, depending on who's working. Open 24 hours.

Antoni's - Tuscan style Italian. Price range is on the higher side, though not among the most expensive places in the City. The food's worth the high price as the place doesn't skimp on the portions.
**As of the end of March 2033, Antoni's is no more.**

Fontenot's - Creole style. Reasonable price range. Oo-wee, be sure to come with an appetite!

Corbin's - A 1950's retro style burger joint, complete with a soda fountain and visible grill. Open 24 hours. Located within walking distance of TMP.

Deli-tful - A deli style resturant. Sandwiches, soups. Order at the counter, then have a seat.

Misty's - BBQ. "Food so good, when ya eat it, ya get a little misty eyed." Maybe that's from the heat. But, no sweat, Louisiana born Misty knows how to cook for the northern palette too.

Dante's - Tuscan style Italian. Prices similar to Antoni's. Smaller portions, but still not skimpy.

Damon's - Seafood. On the higher side price wise, but well worth it.

Silver Dragon Teppanyaki grill. Two locations, both in the city. Award winning chefs cook right in front of the patrons, with the traditional showmanship of spinning knifes and flaming onions.

360 A very high class circular restaurant atop a sky scraper. Windows go all the way around this restaurant, and the kitchen is in the center so that the view is not interrupted. This floor of the building slowly revolves, giving an even greater view. Talented chefs prepare delectable food, but be prepared to pay a pretty penny.

Captain's Table Seafood, relaxed, family atmosphere.

Javalicious Coffee shop. Family owned and operated, the proprietors go for quality instead of quantity. Describe the flavor you're looking for, and owner Margaret Coffey will mix your own unique blend and keep it on file so you can get more anytime you like. The shop is relatively small, and the seating area is arranged more like a living room than a restaurant - comfy chairs, couches, end tables and coffee tables are set up in cozy little groupings.

Rainstar's Catering to the vegan crowd, this little cafe nonetheless has a variety of patrons. Organic, all vegetarian food, with nutrional information as well as farm information available for all plates.

Elements A high class restaurant with an elemental theme: dishes are categorized by Fire (spicey), Water (soups, fish), Earth (meat, veggies) and air (poultry and game birds). The menu even includes an extensive healthy selection - that section is entitled Dance.

Bars, Clubs, etc

Reynardine A "traditional" Irish pub. Simple, tasty food and great drink are available in a relaxed atmosphere. Frequently, there is live music - either from hired bands, or just impromptu from patrons who play or sing. The music is of the sort that tends to be found in the "World" section of most music stores. Jigs, reels, ballads - essentially Irish traditional tunes, or more modern music of the same theme.

Shops

Cassi-Tee's - silk screening t-shirt shop. Custom pictures available upon request. Run by Cassidy Reynolds.

Mystic Moon - spa, coffee and new age shop. Massages, mineral baths, accupuncture, parafin wax treatments, you name it. The coffee shop has gourmet coffees and tea blends (secret Oriental recipes on some of the tea blends). The "new age" shop portion has scented candles, incense and music.

Isengard Ink - A clean and well-lit establishment, this place is definitely on the upscale end of the spectrum for tattoo parlors. The tattooists who work there specialize in custom artwork, although they're more than happy to apply a tat from standard flash if that is the client's desire. Thanks to the firm guiding hand of owner Fred Woulfe, Isengard Ink is the sort of place anyone can feel comfortable about entering.

You Ask, We Can Make It, Glass Shop Inc - This factory/shop is where the beautiful glass art like bottles or glass statues is made. It's open to everyone who wants to come and see how glass is made. There's even a gift shop one can go in. So come on in, have fun, and learn new stuff while looking a pretty shiny things.

Knights of NYC Owned by Leandra Zephyrine, Knights is antiques shop. Here, shoppers can find anything from 11th century armor, to 18th century chinese hand woven rugs, to autographed copies of ancient grimoires. Knights is well-known for it's arms and armor collections, but does deal in other items. A shop for the wealthy, Knight's reputation continues to grow, for satisfaction and authenticity is always guaranteed.
Nestled among the surrounding businesses, this two-story building is shaded an eye catching slate gray color. The shop door is heavy, oaken, with the shop name Knights of NYC scripted across the fine wood. Standing guard on either side of the door, is a pair of knights, these bgeing carved from rough
stone, and not actual armor. These stand an impressive 8 feet in height, hands curled around sword hilts, like an honorguard in tombs.
Inside, Knights, is done in elegant gray marble. Arms and armor stand at attention, and other items are displayed to show their best features. The staff of Knights is small, consisting solely of it's owner. She alone maintains and runs the shop, and greets all with a friendly hello.

Grandmother's Attic for all your vintage needs...

Here one can find all sorts of vintage apparel, as well as old knick-nacks from way-back-when. Mainly based on the apparel side, with jackets, shirts, belts, pants and shoes that anyone could ever hope to find. Be forewarned though, these articles of classic visage come with a bit of a high price.

Jellies A local music store. The stock has a wide range including old fashioned vinyl records, 8 tracks, cassettes, cds, micro cds. . .There are musical instruments as well, and music lessons. Even comic books.

Loathe Point Records Past the double doors, to the left and right there are two desks for where patrons make purchases, and a desk against the back, where they can set up studio time.
In the center of the room there are many small CD shelves holding music from local bands, and music from 1990-2025.
To the left of the back desk is a door, leading to a large basement filled with recording equipment.
-Owned by Michael Paradeux and his cousin John Rodgers.

Ariel’s Grotto New age books and tools
Run by Rebecca Reid, a professor of Liberal Studies at NYU, this small shop is cozy, located in Greenwich Village and is only a few blocks from the Meeting Place . Hours vary, though it is open from very early in the morning until very late at night with a very small staff.

Belles and Whistles Custom bikes and supplies. Run by Ginger Woulfe and Tamara "Tink" Wilson. The pair design and make custom motorcycles. The shop also carries various supplies for bikers - everything from leathers to custom painted helmets.

Museums, Galleries, other Cultural spots

Reenie's Realm - A sculpture gallery/shop run by the blind artist who creates the sculptures. Available pieces range in size from knick-knack size to life size statues of people.

Entertainment

Echoes - A small movie theater, only three screens, unlike the popular megaplexes. The main draw of this little theater is the movies that it plays. Rather than the most current hits, Echoes place classic movies - old black and whites, retouched only enough to undue the ravages of age upon the film. Non-colorized. The films are shown in themes, so that each of the three screens shows a movie related to the others. Most frequently, the themes are based upon actors.

Services and other misc

Vic's Gym - Run by Victoria Rutheford. The gym has well kept, high standard equipment. The staff includes certified professional trainers and dieticians, for those who request them. Classes and trainers are available not just for those who are fit and want to stay that way, but also for those who want to get fit.
