GM1: Bizarre Bazaar

While waiting for the messenger to arrive, Jinx suddenly sways in his seat and gasps in pain. He claps his hands to his temples, eyes clenched shut, and screams.

"Jinx! What is it? Are you all right? What's going on?" Phelan's voice rings frantically above the general hubbub. Jinx does not respond, but screams twice more.

Then, just as suddenly as it started, he stops, and opens his eyes. Several of the inn's staff are clustered around, asking if they can help, but Jinx waves them away.

"What was that?" he says, looking around for enemies, but no threat presents itself. "I've never felt anything like that before. It was if my head just suddenly exploded. I'm feeling much better now. I hope that doesn't happen again, though."

Just then, a neatly dressed kobold comes in the door and marches up to Octavio. "Master Umraecyl sends his greetings and wishes me to convey that he awaits the pleasure of your company at his residence," the kobold declaims pompously.

Jinx attempts to stand, but sways, gray-faced, and collapses back into his seat, gripping the table for balance.

"Jinx, you look awful. You're not going anywhere except to bed, right now. You others, go meet with Umraecyl. I'm going to keep an eye on this one. Come on now, lean on me. We'll get you to bed and let you sleep it off." Despite Jinx's feeble protestations, Phelan bundles him out of the room towards the rooms you have acquired.

[sblock=ooc]This is me writing Jinx out of the adventure, since we haven't seen his player for a long time. Robichaud, if you return, you're welcome back as far as I'm concerned.

I'll probably move on to the meeting with U shortly, but I'm out of time for typing just now.[/sblock]

"Yes, Jinx, best get some bedrest. The padre'll take good care of you."

Octavio then turns to the kobold. "Sorry about that. I don't know what came over him. Please, lead on."

Weel says a soft prayer under his breath for Jinx, but decides to leave his care to those who have known him longer. Instead, he waits with the others to be lead to the mysterious head of this Bazaar.

William nods to Phelan before saying "Buck up Jinx, just get some rest and care and youll be up and going in no time". He then looks to octavio and the kabold.

The kobold, unperturbed, leads you back to Umraecyl's home with a stiff-legged marching stride. At the front gate, the guards unlock the gate, and the kobold escorts you inside, not deigning to spare a glance for the guards.

The inside of the house is luxurious in an understated, graceful style. The walls in the front hallway are bare of decoration save for a single exquisite sculpture of crystal and gold, depicting a beautiful elven woman, staring pensively into space.

The kobold closes the front door behind you, remaining outside himself. Before you can exclaim at being suddenly abandoned, a tall, dark figure steps into the hallway. "Greetings, my friends. I am Umraecyl. Welcome to my house. Please, come in. May I offer you refreshments?"

Umraecyl is a Nesfylim, one of the dark-skinned elves not commonly seen on the surface of the enworld. His skin is nearly colorless, a smooth, almost jet black that gives no hint of his true age. His white hair is held back in a neat queue by a silver clasp. His clothing, though of muted colors and cut with the same understated elegance that his home displays, would not be at all out of place on a fashionable nobleman of Orussus or Monemvassia. He is not visibly armed.

"And welcome, also, to my bazaar," he continues. "It is good to see more surface dwellers here. I trust you had a pleasant journey?"

"Thank you for seeing us, and for your hospitality. I am Octavio Amontillado of Orussus, and my companions are William [last name] and Weel Naxel. We had a bit of excitement early on in our journey, but nothing we couldn't handle. Our journey and reception in the underground has been quite pleasant. Your staff, in particular, have been quite hospitable."

Umraecyl beams, his teeth a brilliant white against his skin. "Thank you, I will pass on your compliments to my staff. We strive to please. And I'm very glad to hear that your journey was not unduly interrupted; I've heard unpleasant rumors of attacks on travellers in this vicinity. Ah, but here I am indulging in small talk again, when there is business to attend to! You are here to see the auction items, I believe?"

He leads you through a side hallway through a door into a long gallery. Clear display cases are arranged in a U shape. To your left are a finely crafted longsword in a decorated leather scabbard, a set of three books, hand-bound in leather and brass, and two silvery horseshoes the size of dinner plates. On the right are a small wooden case with two small black stones, a weapon rack holding seven identical halberds, and three succubi, entirely naked and looking slightly bored in their large clear case. At the apex of the U is an ancient ceramic urn on a pedestal. At the other end of the room, flanking the urn, stand two dark-robed figures, their features completely hidden by the shadows of their hoods, and their hands hidden in wide sleeves. The hoods turn smoothly toward you as you enter. Umraecyl pays them no attention, instead gesturing to the cases.

"Please, take your time, and ask questions. I do not promise to know all the answers, but I will tell you what I know."

[sblock=ooc]Sorry about the delays. I'm really trying to keep the pace up through this roleplaying-intense section, but enworld's servers aren't cooperating.[/sblock]

Weel stares a bit longer than he should when he sees the succubi. He'd studied demons and devils during his training at the temple, but this was his first time seeing one. When he realized he was lagging behind the others, he hurried to catch up.

Despite the fact that it was clear the young cleric had a laundry list of questions as he looked about, fascinated at the exhibit, Weel kept his mouth shut, letting the others start and hoping he didn't stick his foot in his mouth when he finally did speak.

"I guess before we get into the crux of what we have came to bid on, I may as well inquire on one of the others. What can you tell me about the sword?" William says, as he looks to the case to inspect it.

ooc: Weel's not lagging behind ;)

"See one you like?," Octavio asks Weel with a grin.

"Why bother Master Umraecyl with questions when the product can speak for itself? Ladies, your services to go to the highest bidder. What exactly are you capable of?"
