Something occurred to me.
FigurePrints is a company which takes the model of your World of Warcraft character and runs it through a 3d printer, creating a statue of it.
RepRap is the Replicating Rapid Prototyper, a 3d printer which you can assemble relatively cheap parts and which can then make copies of itself. I can't find the initial cost right now, but I thought I remembered it being somewhere in the $150-300 range. The plans and software are all free and open source.
You can then use DDI's character visualizer to make a 3d model of your character, print it out on your RepRap, and then paint it. Instant miniature!
I imagine if someone was industrious enough, they could probably make a fair amount of money on this service. I'm sure lots of people would be willing to pay, say, $20 to make a mini of their favorite character.
