1 Million Inn/Tavern Patrons

Reynard

Legend
One Million Inn/Tavern Patrons

Player characters seem to spend a great deal of time bellied up to the bar. Most of the time, they are simply waiting for a long bearded wizard or ranger-out-of-the-wild to give them their next adventure. Let's break the mold and give them some folks to talk to!

NOTE: The following tables assume a fairly cosmopolitan inn or tavern in a typical D&D (any edition) campaign. For more unusual settings like Dark Sun or Planescape, or for other FRPGs, some adjustments will have to be made.

I've really been enjoying your Sandbox threads and random tables Reynard. I'm about to run a 2nd Edition DnD sandbox game so these things have been pure gold and excellent inspiration for me

You need to get out more. If you think half of the people in a bar/tavern are women you are either nuts, or you need to bring me to your bars. I like the concept but I would go with 1-4 for male 5-6 for female.

Besides my stupid nit-picking, it could lead to some fun RPing in the bars. I think I will tape this to my DM Screen

I've enjoyed these threads you're doing.

This one reminds me of a suite of simple programs I made for generating NPCs back around the start of 3E. I built a database of names, about 95000 male and 65000 female, and tagged them by cultural background and gender so I could specify culture and gender and it would generate a name, along with race, stats, and a few behavioural traits for roleplaying them.

You need to get out more. If you think half of the people in a bar/tavern are women you are either nuts, or you need to bring me to your bars. I like the concept but I would go with 1-4 for male 5-6 for female.

Or if we're playing modern:
1-10=male, 11-17=female, 18=transgender male, 19=transgender female, 20=nobody is sure.
