[sblock=Background] Wes Colton started out his life by sneaking up on people, a habit he would refine during the formative years of his life, as neither of his parents, Geln and Tarace Colton, were planning to have a child during the turbulent times the Galactic Civil War. They were both Corellian Security Force officers, with Geln assigned to the Smuggling Interdiction Division, and Tarace an entry specialist with the Tactical Response Team. Even though it was a chaotic time, both for the Galaxy and Corellia, the Coltons took to the startling news with the same level of excitement that they did their work.

Their planning was rushed, as Wes was born a week earlier than expected, as if he was impatient to come into Corellia, thus he was born in Coronet, the capital, instead of home-birthed at the family farmstead outside of the capital. Much of Wes’ youth was spent between the city and the countryside, as his parents wanted him to have a balanced life, exposed to urban and rural life on Corellia. His public education was the same, regardless of being in the city or the country; however it was his exposure to additional experiences that was different. While in the city, he learned various skills from his parents, who felt it was important that Wes gained experience from their lives. While in the country, with his paternal grandparents, Herm and Ilis, Wes picked up marksmanship and survival skills, amongst other things, while protecting the farm from sand panthers and other predators.

It was during his early childhood that Wes was separated from his parents because of the tense situation between CorSec and Imperial Intelligence, as the some members former did not agree with the later about chasing rebels being part of their duties. It was after the Battle of Endor, the bittersweet victory of the Rebellion, with a grave loss attached to it, and Wes’ parents risked their careers, as well as their lives, by letting a suspected rebel spy slip through a port outside of Coronet. They were taken away, by Imperial Intelligence, but the outcome, whatever it may have been, was never realized, as the Empire soon abandoned the Corellian System, which switched their focus to recovery, not continued involvement in the Galactic Civil War.

For the rest of his childhood, as well as his adolescence, Wes Colton grew up on a free, unoccupied Corellia, with a keen understanding of the Empire. It was this understanding, as well as Corellia’s insular nature at the time, that inspired the young man to enlist in the New Republic Military, in the Republic Navy’s Marines, as he felt inspired by the famous Corellian’s who had served with the Rebel Alliance, be it those who returned to Corellian service or continued with the New Republic, and he wished to make a difference.

Over the course of the next decade of his life, Wes Colton was an excellent Marine, although he excelled in many areas, his specialty was as a scout/sniper. Often Wes would find himself scouting a system before an offensive, sometimes given a specific pre-offensive assignment, taking out a specific part of the defenses, including military personnel. It was during his first tour of duty, on RNS Tatooine that Wes, then a Sergeant, earned his Corellian Bloodstripe, second-class, on a pilot recovery mission at a heavily fortified Imperial prison. It was thought to be a suicide mission, but the young Corellian volunteered with a plan already in his mind. It is through his time on the Tatooine that Wes first meets Ariav Cyn and Lynial Gelian, as the former is the officer that he approaches to volunteer for the rescue mission and the later is the subject of the rescue.

Not only did Colton succeed, but he has served several times on special ops missions attached to Cyn, thus it was only natural that he follow the now Commander to the RNS Taelros. While their relationship that of officer and non-commissioned officer, as Wes is now a Gunnery Sergeant, Commander Cyn knows that he can count on the Corellian, as does Lieutenant, Senior Grade, Gelian. Upon joining the Taelros, Wes quickly gets to know Chief Selkin, both on a professional level, as well as a personal one, if there was a sabacc game on the Taelros, which there is not, of course, then he would be there.

[sblock=Background](Rough Draft) Abridged Background

A native Kiffar who studied the combat arts early in his youth, Kyber Udo fell on hard times early in his career as a Corrections Officer on Kiffu when he gave in to various narcotics, most notably Death Sticks, landing him inside a Republic Prison on Oovo IV for a couple of years. His incarceration made him bitter and angry towards the Republic, despite his situation being entirely his fault, and was unspokenly disowned by Clan Udo out of great shame for his failings after his release. With no one to rely on, the young Kiffar left his homeworld for the Capital of the Empire on Coruscant in search of a life of his own, eventually landing a position as an Imperial Guardsman in the Lower City of Coruscant to counter-act the various swoop gangs that populated its recesses. It was a fairly easy job, considering the Republic and the Empire were at war with one another. Besides, the pay and benefits were fantastic, and for a short period of time, Khyber thought that perhaps this occupation could really turn his streak of ill-luck around. Suffice it to say that it wouldn't.

After eavesdropping on an Imperial Officer and a high-ranking member of the infamous Skulls swoop gang plotting to incite mayhem as bait for another gang, Kyber's faith in the Empire was swayed heavily as the greater of two evils. In an act of desperation to prevent civillians being dragged into the crossfire, he sought out Finegan Flint of the rival Knights swoop gang and leaked the plot to lure them out by using the Skulls to him and his slightly-more-noble revolutionaries. With his act of treason against the Empire warranting him a hefty price on his head, Kyber joined the Knights instinctively for survival, and through his time spent with Flint and his pro-Republic compatriots, his self-delusions of anti-Republic sentiment was deminished, going so far as to man a swoop himself against the Empire and the Skulls. It was only after a devastating Imperial raid on the Knights' headquarters that prompted Kyber to abandon his rebellious comrades, but was captured before he could escape Coruscant to the Outer Rim by bounty hunters. Bound and awaiting court marshal and the death penalty, it's only through a one in a trillion stroke of luck that saved his skin. Searching for other prospective students of the Force, a young Zabrak jedi by the name of Weland Yord stumbled across the imprisoned Clan Udo Kiffar, liberating Kyber and offering him a chance to return with him to learn the ways of the Force. Grateful for the rescue, Kyber nonetheless declined the offer, never being one that put much faith in all that sorcerous hallabaloo.

Once his escape from Coruscant via a hijacked shuttle alongside Yord was complete, Kyber made his way into the Outer Rim Territories of the Galaxy, finally settling on the gambling system of Elerion wherein he sold his services as a bodyguard and bouncer -- and later as a mercenary -- under the pseudonym Rush Quo-Din, most notably operating out of the Lucky Star Casino in the capital of Kushal Vogh. During his stay, Kyber enlisted in a lucrative venture as a mercenary-for-hire after overhearing a conversation between the Togruta Je'nysryl and her crew at a sabaac gambling parlor. His services were well appreciated aboard the Togruta's ship -- the Gallant Ghest -- and had earned him quite a hefty sum in credits for his natural affinity for the occupation, cashing in illicit dealers, protecting employers from rogue Assassin Droids, so on and so forth to etch a name for himself into the slate of society in the Outer Rim territories under the guise of Rush Quo-Din.

With the small fortune Kyber had accrued over the brief time spent in the service of Je'nysryl and her crew, he pooled his funds and financed his own ship -- The Thirsty Nerf -- to strike out on his own private venture of the same caliber, recruiting only two other crew members in order to help tend to the YT-2000 transport he'd acquired.

Life for a time was good. Under his alias, the Empire had little visible interest in the mercenary, and subsequently as a mercenary under a pseudonym, Kyber made a small fortune selling his unstated Pro-Republic services to the highest bidder. It wasn't until the blaster-for-hire took on a job for the subsidiary collection company Relekin Confidential, owned and operated as a front by the criminal organization known as the Tenloss Syndicate. It was a simple enough task: serve as extra muscle and assist agents in seizing property from a man known to be armed on a regular basis. After the completion of the assignment and awaiting payment for his rendered services, Kyber's employer sold him out to the Empire after divulging his identity. Betrayed, his ship was impounded and sent to some Imperial Impound Yard, while his crew and himself were thrown into an Imperial Prison on the Outer Rim planet of Dathomir while awaiting trial for treason.

Incarcerated for the second time in his life, the Clan Udo Kiffar refused to sit back and accept punishment this time, fighting the Imperials and enmasse bounty hunters that patrolled the facility at every turn, landing himself in solitary confinement -- among other, more insidious things -- on more than one occasion. Thankfully, fortune once more smiled upon him when a small group of Republic forces attacked the facility in a bid to incite an outbreak to free supposedly captive supporters of the Republic. In the uproar, violence and mayhem became the dish of the day, but it was through it that Kyber managed to escape on his own via a stolen Imperial Shuttle, leaving his crew behind purely on the premise that they had been seperated to other wings of the massive fractured planet-based facility. Before he could make the jump to lightspeed, he was intercepted by Republic forces under the assumption that he was in league with the Galactic Empire.

One lengthy life-story later to convince his newfound captors of his intentions, Udo found himself at an impasse. His career was spiraling the drain, the Empire had his ship and crew, and there was likely to be a new bounty on his head. With his identity compromised, no place in the galaxy was safe for him now that he'd managed to make the Empire's Wanted List. This left two viable alternatives: scuttle off to some back-world system beyond the Outer Rim or enlist in the Republic Military for protection and income. The latter choice, of course, seemed the most logical, especially after weighing the prospects of survival outside of civilized space. And so his life had come full circle, as it were. It wasn't long after the Republic Forces returned home that Kyber enlisted in the Republic Navy.

After signing a traditional four year contract, twenty weeks of intensive training saw him graduate from the Republic Naval Academy with moderately impressive marks as a Republic Marine, opening the venue for Officer Candidate School. Again, Udo was up to the challenge. While other prospective officers had expansive knowledge and degrees in regards to war, military tactics, and theories on the art thereof, Khyber merely had life experience to see him through as one of the oldest students at the school. After successfully graduating from OCS -- albeit with the lowest marks of his entire class -- with the rank of Ensign, the Kiffar went on to pursue advanced individual training as a Republic Fighter Pilot, narrowly passing the bar to successfully finish the course. Soon after, Khyber was moved onto an active duty Republic Frigate dubbed the RNS Taelros just before its recent launch back into space from the shipyards.[/sblock]

[sblock=Personality]Hard-bitten and often cynical, Kyber's been around the block enough times not to trust every two-credit spacer or Zeltronian femme fatale. Coming from a quasi-criminal background, Kyber has a tendency to make friends slowly, though those fortunate enough to at least earn a begrudging respect from the Kiffar have accomplished a great feat. Enemies, however, are another subject all together, of which Kyber seems to have a steadily increasing number of.

Driven and focused, Kyber pursues his tasks with relentless vigor, putting all other priorities aside till' whatever goal or objective he's currently working towards is completed or otherwise unable to be.
Often cited as reckless and unorthodox, Udo isn't above dirty tricks, cheap shots, and the use of excessive force in order to see another Galactic Standard Year, which has earned more than one person's ire in the past.

Kyber's personal code -- albeit a bit skewed and esoteric -- is one he takes very seriously. When a debt is incurred, his priority immediately becomes paying that debt back, which is especially so if it's a life debt. Similarly, children are exempt from his wrath, while women and men are treated equally in the Kiffar's eyes, perceiving each gender just as dangerous.

On a less serious note, Kyber also has a penchant for listening to Core Drive, Jizz, Jizz-Wail, and the Tattooine Blues. His meal of choice is Chili Dumplings with Blue Milk or Juri Juice, with a side of Krakana Filet if acquisitionable.[/sblock]

[sblock=Description]Tall and dark, Kyber is the epitome of the classic Kiffar. With lengthy coal-colored hair to his shoulders with only a few locks bound and beaded near the front, his ears pierced with small metal studs, and eyes the shade of Kashyyyk's upper trees, Kyber is nothing special to look at with his high cheekbones, rigid jaw, and bulkish physique. His most notable feature -- as is the case with most Kiffar -- is the clan tattoo permanently etched upon his clean-shaven face, adopting his mother's clan markings as per custom in the form of simplistic blood-red bars.

Kyber's typical off-duty attire is of little real note. He typically sports a simple beige long-sleeve shirt with laced V-Neck under a ribbed leather flight jacket, his signature studded brown-and-black combat gloves, black leather pants garnerished by a single blood red stripe on the outer sides, hard leather kneepads and elbowpads, coupled with a leather half-kilt which covers his rear quarters down to just above the joints, finished off with his standard issue Kiffu Prison Guard steel-toed combat boots. Otherwise, he either sports the traditional Galactic Alliance military attire or padded flight suit.[/sblock]

[sblock=Background]Born of a middle class family, be decided he wanted to help people when finished his adolescence. Unable to afford the actual education by family support alone, he decided to get his professional expertise through military service. Thinking he wanted to be a doctor, he was planning to get his medical expertise, serve his time, and leave active duty to start his own practice. While being attached to the Marines as a field medic, he couldn't handle just sitting by waiting for his comrades to get injured in the battles. Truly a comrade in combat arms at heart, he cross-trained over to be more of a trigger puller as his career progressed. He even broaden his skill set to include shipboard gunnery and sensor operations, so he could be more valuable as a combatant during starship engagements. Being commissioned as an ENS, brought along a change of assignment to a new unit.[/sblock]
