Seafood Feast!

Today was my Mom's 65th birthday. It's also the first day of Lent.

So I took her and her sister to lunch at a nice seafood restaurant here in the Dallas area- Rex's on Lover's Lane. They kicked ass.

But enough about them. Tonight was my show.

Tonight I cooked dinner for her mini-party: sides were boiled potatoes & corn on the cob, plus steamed asparagus. The main courses were a choice between small steamed lobster tails, rainbow trout a la pecan, ruby trout in a lemon-dill butter sauce, or tilapia with lemon-butter, garlic, and parsley.

Smiles abounded. :)

I kinda felt I had to pull out the stops. 2 weeks ago was my Dad's 65th, and we had an enormous party, and I was not one of the designated cooks. I was needed to help manage the logistics of the 50+ person guestlist.

I tell you what...I'm glad it's basically over. I'm whupped.
