when do you fall?

here's a question that kinda bugs me:

let's say that a character gets whatever magic she was using to fly/float gets dispelled; say a fly/levitate/windwalk spell. at what point does she fall to the ground? on that same initiative that the magic gets dispelled? or on her next initiative count? and why? (or possibly where is this covered in the rules?) if it's on her next initiative count, does she get a chance to react before she falls or not?

I'd say falling is a "not-an-action" and as such takes place immeadiately and without regards to (or effects on) the initiative order.

Reactions are not possible except where specifically noted (as with the Featherfall spell).

There's a section in the DMG's "Running the Game" chapter titled "Simultaneous Actions" (I think) that specifically says it's up to the taste of the DM. It could be on the initiative count in question, or at the end of the round, or on the next round...
