When I was younger, I preferred the type of artwork that you find in a more modern DnD WoTC or even TSR 2nd Edition book.

However, as I get older I do appreciate the emotions the works from artists such as Trampier convey. They wear simpler and less detailed gear, and yet the setting, action and environment in the pieces provoke the wild imagination. Thanks for posting this.

I always loved that "Emirikol The Chaotic " illustration. It just oozed bad ass wizard.

And the PHB cover is so iconic that it has been imitated many times.
 


Yep, one of the greats - it's a shame that he's now the night dispatcher for the cab company in C-Dale. (The DE article that they quote from is several years old.)

The really sad part is it apparently has to do with his divorce from his wife. He supposedly claimed that, "D&D ruined my marriage and my life." And EGG stated that DAT blamed him for things that he had no control over.

I never thought living in the middle of frickin' nowhere would ever prove useful, at least I can stay abreast of Dave's so-called life.
