"Return to" a homebrewed adventure!

Quite a few post-1e adventures- some of them very awesome- are "Return to" style adventures: Return to the Tomb of Horrors, Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk, etc etc.

Have you written or run any "Return to" style adventures that saw the pcs return to one of your infamous homebrewed adventure sites?

In my campaign, one of the most infamous dungeons is Bile Mountain. At various points, the pcs have played through:

Bile Mountain
Return to Bile Mountain (which ended in a TPK)
Revenge on Bile Mountain
and Beyond Bile Mountain.

I'm currently working on a "thousands of years later..." sequel, the Bile Mountain Casino and Resort. I strongly suspect the pcs in my campaign will end up there sometime before too long.

What about you??

I can't say that I've recycled any dungeons as a GM, though I did get to participate as a player in a near-TPK-inducing rerun in a legendary homebrew site.

I do, however, like to recycle old dungeon maps. One of my all-time favorites was the Xak Tsaroth cavern ruin from Dragonlance DL1, and I once built an entire campaign around that hole in the ground...

I've done this many times. The party returned to the first dungeon in the campaign a while back, and they've returned again and again to another dungeon known as "The Pillars of Hell" - either because a recent bad guy had taken up residence there, or because the dungeon is part of an ancient teleportal network and they needed to make a fast getaway.

Intriguing... if Lester, Inoke and co. wiped out the Bile Lords at the end of Empires of Chaos, what is it that makes that pestilent pile of rock still Bile Mountain? Did one of the Bile Lords get away, or arise as an undead being? Or... PCs aren't the only people who can get resurrected.

Please tell me you're going to start a new Story Hour and Rogues' Gallery. I'd love to watch the craziness unfold!

To answer your question, I haven't really done this myself -none of my campaigns have run long enough to merit calling any dungeoneering expeditions "returns" rather than second or third forays.

I've had PCs run through a similar map to a dungeon I had used in the past. Both times it was for a Halloween themed adventure. Otherwise, I've used some similar places in games, like NPCs and towns.

A GM friend of mine did "Return to Jacob's Well" - Based on the same PC returning to a rebuilt up area years after the first adventure )Which was a great little solo adventure from the old magazines...)
