Cute but dangerous
The only active volcano of the continent spews out ash and fire at relatively regular intervals, usually 9-10 years. Thus, asides from wandering monsters including giant ants (who are said to have their main nest in the volcano walls) there is no life around it, and all roads stay well clear of it.
Travelers passing in sight of Sneak Peak usually get a heavy feeling, or get depressed altogether. The evil emanating from the mountain is very obvious. The natives can't remember why this is and neither them nor the newcomers dared to find out more about it. Other than being a dark spot in the world, the volcano has not caused any trouble yet.
