The Palatinate of SaxGoethe
The Palatinate of SaxGoethe is part of the August Empire, a loose confederation of states. The Empire is much reduced from its heyday some 250 years ago. Once it consisted of a dozen lands under its banner. Now it has just five, two of which are Palatinates and two of which are contested.
The Palatinate of SaxGoethe consists of five states; Saxony Imperious, the Duchy of Hesse, the Principality of Jute, the Kingdom of Rhue, and the Duchy of Wiessland.
The Palatinate is ruled by the Count Palatinate of SaxGoethe. The Count Palatinate title has been held by the Goethe family for some 120 years. Traditionally, whoever holds the title Count Palatinate renounces all other titles and land holdings upon taking the Imperial mantle. The state of Saxony is the smallest of the five states of the Palantine, little more than an expanded city state.
Geography
The Palatinate is a roughly diamond shaped land, consisting of a mountainous central region surrounded largely by plains. The regions south and east of the mountains tend to be warmer and wetter than those to the north and west. The bulk of the population is found in the former areas. The land is traversed by numerous large rivers radiating out from the central mountains.
