Leesburg, VA LFPs Goodman Games DCC RPG

Looking to see how many players might be interested in a Goodman Games DCC RPG
campaign in Leesburg, VA.

If you are not aware of DCC RPG, it is system roughly based on D&D 3.5, though
retro in mechanics favoring 1st edition D&D. To be clear it will not appeal to
all players, below are some of the key features:

- Vancian spell system, but aligning much more with the original book mechanics,
featuring rolling for successful casting, variable results, spell failure which
might mean losing the spell for the day and critical spell fumbles/successes.
- funky dice - roll for everything (hp, damage, crits, spell result, healing
result, attack, fumbles, etc.). Dice are rolled openly
- critical success tables and critical fumbles tables
- magical corruption results for sad inept wizards, and godly disfavor on
unfaithful clerics
- magic is special and gawd damn dangerous, limited spell knowledge, jealous
wizards
- monsters tend to more unique and "mysterious"
- race is a class (ala original D&D)
- characters start at 0 level, players start with 3 character each for the
funnel …
- funnel character creation generation system, one of most innovative aspects of
DCC, some groups just run the funnels. Looking at 50-70% attrition rate for PCs
- after the funnel characters still die in droves, so if you played OD&D-1st
edition rules, you should remember the 30%-50% casualty rate of 1st -3rd level
parties.
- if your character makes it to 3rd level, well that is something really
special, and I am sure he's buried a lot of friends on the way there.
- There is one big rulebook, mostly full of spell result tables. PCs cap at
10th level.

Right now I am probably only available to run every other Saturday afternoons
from 1pm - 5pm.
