Which MMO's take place in the modern world?

Just curious:

Most MMO's seem to take place in either fantasy or sci-fi settings (sometimes both), but how many MMO's (past and present) take place in the modern world?

Off the top of my head, I can only think of The Secret World and the myriad of superhero-themed MMO's (City of Heroes/Villians, Champions Online, DC Universe Online, Marvel Heroes, etc.). I suppose that The Matrix Online kinda-sorta did as well.

Also, why are there fewer MMO's set in the modern world than ones set in both fantasy and sci-fi worlds?

Because being a level 30 Cashier with the Underachievement perk sucks.

You're a bit limited in real world scenarios where it would more fun if you have a lot of people playing in the same world.

Shooters pretty much cover the wars we have. RPG's can cover the crime stuff.

You'd have to add some sci-fi or fantasy stuff to make it interesting.

The upcoming game The Division is set in the near future. I don't know much about it except that is has RPG elements and has the MMO tag attached to it.

What kind of MMO would you like to play in the modern world? I.e. what kind of gameplay do you think would work?

The Secret World. A really under-rated MMO imo.
