David Gerrold's The War Against the Chtorr is similar to that, but the introduction is a systematic plan by an alien race to 'Chtorr-aform' our planet by introducing their alien ecology that out-competes our own.

I hate to tell you this, but the invasion has already happened. They have taken over the white house and majority of capital hill. Their next target is Canada.

The information is being surpressed by the Chinese (PDR) because they have already been there, Co-oped a Martian revolution and as part of their 'pay for the help' the Martians had to take over the three Americas.
