It's inappropriate for this type of modularity to be accessible by the players, and represents a potential headache for the DMs who don't want to deal with it. It also fails to address the issue of how system rules like manuevers interact with all the other non-fighter characters. On top of that, it's a shift towards emphasizing character builds rather than in-game choices, which is a step away from the minimalist old school approach that was being discussed when this chain of posts started.

Right. Then the only solution for that DM is ban the Battlemaster as a player's option.

That's not nice, but at least it's possible for a DM that "don't want to deal with it". There are situation worse that this... for instance, I would prefer a game of D&D with the traditional Vancian magic, but 5e has prepared spells separate from daily slots, plus it has infinite magic in the form of cantrips and rituals. And all this definitely requires more work than banning a subclass, since all spellcasters work like that.
