speed for large sized mounsterous humanoids

General Questions:

Do all large monsterous humanoids have a base speed of 40 feet?

Is that the deafault?

Specific questions:

I am advancing a Dire Corby (ToH) from medium (2HD) to Large (5hd).

Should the speed go from 30 to 40?

Simple answer = no.

Increasing size does not cause an increased movement.

What Brekki said. It seems to me that in general, medium-size creatures have a speed of about 30 feet. Smaller creatures have a shorter stride (20 feet) and bigger creatures have a longer stride (40 feet). Of course, this isn't a rule or anything, but it seems to be the base movement rate of many creatures, modified on a case by case basis. Again, size increases or decreases generally do not provide a speed increase or decrease, but I wouldn't necessarily be adverse to the viewpoint that it could.
