"Flight 917 with nonstop service from Colorado Springs to Seattle now boarding at gate 12."
Beverly Richmond took Amanda's hand to try to hurry her along, while she dragged her wheeled luggage behind her with the other. Amanda was the youngest of the three, Clarine and Sophie were keeping pace well enough on their own.
"Come on girls, we don't want to miss our plane."
Sophie adjusted her girl scout sash for the fifth time, "Do we have to wear these on the plane?"
Beverly sighed, "Yes, Sophie. Its a national convention and you girls were chosen to represent Colorado Springs. Representing something means...well...representing. Now come on, gate 12 is right up there."
_____
Private First Class William Hanson hefted his duffel bag on his shoulder as he stood. The cold winter evening reflected his mood. He hadn't taken leave since finishing basic training and yet he dreaded going home. Christmas at the Hanson House was always an ordeal - relatives he barely knew, grandma's awful fruitcake, and Stacie's boyfriend of the week always managing to upset mom somehow. He sighed as he watched the snow fall, hoping the flight would get cancelled at the last minute.
_____
Charelle tugged at her flight attendant uniform sleeve again, trying to cover the pale patch of skin on her otherwise dark arm...she kept meaning to get the sleeves adjusted, but she was just too busy. Always busy. Too busy to worry about vitiligo. And right this moment, she was supposed to be busy prepping the cabin before passengers started boarding.

Captain Philip Andrews put on his headset and started final checks, going through the motions as his thoughts drifted to his wife in Seattle. She'd be up, waiting for him, like she always was. But, that thought didn't comfort him or bring him any joy. The spark in their marriage had faded years ago. Now they just went through the motions. His mind snapped back to the task at hand as a voice came over the headset.
"Flight 917, this is C-Springs tower. We're going to try to get you out of here before the blizzard hits."
Philip replied, "That would be swell, tower."

Flight 917 - a Boeing 777 airplane, getting ready to take off on December 18th, 2014. Scheduled to leave at 8:21 pm. 411 passengers and crew.
_____
A man holds his ticket in sweaty palms. He looks down at the floor, rocking back and forth slightly, waiting to get on the plane. He's muttering under his breath...something in a language no one around him understands. He keeps his eyes down, not looking up. Because they aren't his eyes...not at the moment. The eyes are the windows to the soul, so they say, but there is another soul inside this man.
And his eyes are pitch black.
Wraith: The Oblivion is a game in the classic World of Darkness line, my personal favorite. It is a game about death and what comes after. Each player character is a ghost, a spirit of a recently deceased individual.
Player characters can come from any walk of life but there are a couple of important things to keep in mind. First, all PCs should be either from Colorado Springs or have significant ties to the city. Reasons to stay there, even beyond death. Family, friends, a business, a career, something that ties them to the city in some way. Second, all PCs should have a reason to be on a flight to Seattle on December 18th, 2014. Visiting family for the holidays, a business trip, a convention, or even just a connecting flight to elsewhere.
Don't worry about numbers for right now, we'll go over that step by step. Also, don't worry if you've never played Wraith before - consider this an introduction. For those who are familiar with the game, we'll be using the 2nd Edition.
One more thing...
You won't just be playing your character. Everyone has doubts, fears, and negative voices. What if those thoughts had a mind of their own? Well, in this game, they do. You will also be playing another player character's Shadow - all of their dark, self-defeating urges and thoughts manifested with a will of their own. So, as players submit their character concepts, look them over and choose one to be the dark side of. We'll be working together to coordinate Shadows and characters - despite the antagonistic relationship between a character and their Shadow, the players and storyteller (me) will cooperate to find the most compelling story for these characters.
"Now seating first class and passengers who require assistance boarding. Flight 917, now seating first class and passengers who require assistance."
The man with the pitch black eyes stood and got in line, holding his ticket out impatiently, keeping his eyes down. The man behind him looked at the time on his phone and muttered, "Its going to be a long flight."
The man with pitch black eyes smirked and whispered to himself, "No...its not."
