D&D 5E Blink Spell and movement ?

Greetings all. Having some issues with this spell. A player asked if he could use his reaction to move whilst blink-ed out on the ethereal plane. I wouldn't have thought so, but figured I would throw it out there and get some thoughts on it?

I think technically he needs to use the Ready action, choose "when I blink into the ethereal plane" as the trigger, and then move as a reaction.

That's probably what the RAW requires, but considering that Ready expends your action (so no attack or spellcasting in the same round) and that the trigger only has 50% chance of occurring each round, it makes the idea very little worth.

Roll a d20 at the end of each of your turns for the duration of the spell. On a roll of 11 or higher, you vanish from your current plane of existence and appear in the Ethereal Plane (the spell fails and the casting is wasted if you were already on that plane). At the start of your next turn, and when the spell ends if you are on the Ethereal Plane, you return to an unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within 10 feet of the space you vanished from. If no unoccupied space is available within that range, you appear in the nearest unoccupied space (chosen at random if more than one space is equally near). You can dismiss this spell as an action.
While on the Ethereal Plane, you can see and hear the plane you originated from, which is cast in shades of gray, and you can’t see anything there more than 60 feet away. You can only affect and be affected by other creatures on the Ethereal Plane. Creatures that aren’t there can’t perceive you or interact with you, unless they have the ability to do so

Hmm, I guess my main problem with the idea, is that i didn''t think you could even use a move action while on the ethereal plane. You don't blink out until the END of your turn, and then you teleport back within 10'ft at the start of your turn. I just doesn't seem to support the idea of being able to walk around while your ethereal.

I'd let them Ready movement. As Li Shenron said, that's by the book. Readying gives you a potential future reaction, and reactions can take place off of turn (they usually do), so there's no problem with it.

Oh this is where the title goes?
By the book it doesn’t matter if you move while ethereal, you return to a spot with 10 feet of where you left.
