The Paizo News Roundup

Hey again you fine-featured-followers of our favorite Golem and welcome back to the PAIZO NEWS ROUNDUP! There’s always plenty cooking away in those Redmond offices to make us dream of campaigns to be, so let’s get started!

You may be wondering: what’s the point of covering Pathfinder material when Pathfinder 2E and Starfinder are hogging all the limelight? Well, P2 isn’t out yet, and anyway Paizo would need to suffer a monumental loss of sense to stop supporting Pathfinder; if they did, some plucky young publishing company might swoop in and publish a tighter, leaner, better version of the game using the OGL! Hah! But that would be ridiculous.

So, speaking of Pathfinder purists, here’s a little boon for all you beleaguered GMs lugging your mountain of books from game to game: Ultimate Magic is getting its own pocket edition! All the customization and wonder you get from the normal book, now in almost-pocket size! And what could be more pocket sized than a “lite” mobile version, also available. The Pocket Ultimate Magic should be out any day now, sometime in the coming month.

Now, what’s happening in the Pact Worlds? Quite a bit, if you believe the amount of Adventure Paths that have come out and are due out soon. Three distinct Adventure Paths have already hit the newswaves, including two of their new experimental three-installment versions.
First up to bat is the Dead Suns Adventure Path. While the Dead Suns Adventure Path has been out for a little while now, it’s back on the radar because it has a new scenario coming out on the 25th. The Adventure Path as a whole has characters racing across the stars to keep an ancient hyperspace superweapon out of the hands of both an undead armada and a doomsday cult. Sounds like a good time!

The latest installment of the Dead Suns Adventure Path is Starfinder Adventure Path: The Thirteenth Gate. Adventurers who have traveled this far are frustrated once again as the Cult of the Devourer has somehow managed to reach the Gate of the Twelve Suns before them, and seek to gain control of each of the twelve superweapons orbiting the twelve stars. Also included in the Adventure Path are monsters and goodies for GMs, including five new alien races and the undead embodiment of entropy?! WHY?! Why not? Make your characters quake in their boots when this thing arrives on the 25th!

The Starfinder Adventure Path Against the Aeon Throne has already been mentioned here on the Roundup, so we’ll make brief mention of it before moving on to something darker and more horrible! Against the Aeon Throne details the reaction of the galaxy to the sudden and terrible attention of the Azlanti Empire, who have sinister plans for both an experimental starship drive and a colony of innocent civilians. Only the thrilling heroics of your fine adventurers can save the galaxy! Due out in August, so keep a weather eye out.

Finally, just announced is the latest Starfinder Adventure Path: Signal of Screams! A posh asteroid resort is beset by a sweeping madness and horrifying bodily transformations - and it’s all thanks to the depredations of a crazed scientist trapped on the Shadow Plane! Can your heroes stop the transmission of his nefarious signal? Can they resist its infectious effects?! WHAT WERE YOUR SCRUFFY CHARACTERS DOING IN A NICE RESORT?! Only you can answer these mysteries!

And that about does it for this edition of the PAIZO NEWS ROUNDUP! Keep a weather eye on this space for more news from the Golem!

The pocked edition of Ultimage Magic is important, because it may be a sign of the plans for the second edition. If they hope books from 1st edition still be sold, maybe we could see more titles to other languanges. Devir didn't want to translate more books but they were sure they would be sold enoughly. (and the Spanish translation of Ultimate Magic is planned for the second semester of 2018!!).
