Souls Versus Cryogenics

Just had a thought. If we do in fact possess immortals souls, and there is some type of afterlife, whether Heaven or reincarnation in some form, that we pass onto in death, what will happen to people who are preserved cryogenically when they are thawed out and brought back to life? Are they alive without a soul? Does the soul "snap back" into a defrosted body? Does the soul occupy both the body and its afterlife at the same time? Hmmm...

If they can be brought back to life, it follows that they weren't really dead while frozen. Only *mostly* dead.

So, the soul has been sitting there, locked in the body, waiting to be thawed. If it is immortal, a few years as an ice cube shouldn't be too bad.... right? Right?

{insert pitch for horror-movie with people waking up from cryofreeze with angry souls driven mad by sensory deprivation here}

I would say that if cryogenics works then the person is not dead, therefore their soul does not pass on to an afterlife.

That’s a good point, even if the soul is just a function of biological consciousness, cryogenics it’s going to stuff up a whole lot of brain function such that most everyone that wakes from it is going to have serious mental issues.

Is it possible to have cryogenics that just involve calm dreamless sleep 💤

Reminds me of when a reaper on Dead Like Me neglected to detach a spirit from its body. When it was finally reaped it just woke up screaming...
