BBS D&D - Your opinion?

My apologies if there is a better forum for this thread.

This whole gaming-via-BBS (or email) thing is new to me, and I would like to hear what people think about it. How does it stack up against face-to-face gaming? I presume it is generally more RP-heavy? How do you handle dice rolling - is it a problem? Is it time-consuming to DM? Most importantly, is it fun?

It can be a lot of things. It usually is more role playing but I've seen some combat heavy ones. Dice can either be done by the players or all rolls can be made by the DM. They can be fun or not fun, it really depends on the players and DM. I have heard of problems with more players flaking out and people not responding for days; and that can really hurt a game.

Personally, I perfer table top.
