Action Points: Now THESE are nice...Resource-hoarders (you know who you are) will be annoyed that action points are acquired at level-up rather than being a per adventure resource, but that's their problem! (http://www.fistfullofcomics.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=645)
Are you a resource hoarder? Do you like actions points gained when you level, based on activating flaws, or granted while adventuring like 4th edition?

I haven't read the article, yet, but I like my action points as per 3.5 Unearthed Arcana. That is to say limited, but with the ability to use more than one per encounter and without losing them on a long rest.

The 4.0 action points look to be a joke. I'll try them by the book for a while, but I fully expect to house rule them, at some point to be more like UA.

I am not a resource hoarder.

I prefer 4e action points- they encourage heroics. :) I am a fan of this, and it really seems to work- I have pcs take extravagant risks to get into position for their action point action and stuff.

I'm diggin' the way they play.

how do they compare with Black Company setting?

get some each level, fighters get lots more (and a permanent set). can use to get an extra d6 to use towards a roll. take special actions. etc

I'm guessing that's a standard way of using them?

I'm a resource hoarder in almost any sort of game - couldn't play casters in 3.5, for instance. Use stealth and melee weapons in games like Deus Ex, not for the challenge, but because I don't want to waste bullets from something as basic as a pistol. I've gotten *better*, but...

I like 4E's Action Points, both from a resource management perspective and for what they do. I think, in a fairly long-term Eberron game I DMed, the party might have used... maybe half a dozen action points. Total. The entire group likes to hoard resources - they also resisted using potions and scrolls. In an Eberron game I played, I actually used a few, but often in exchange for being able to do something extraordinary, rather than as a bonus to a roll - worked well for my swashbuckler. So I think 4E Action Points will be a much better fit for my group.

I'm an extreme resource hoarder. I was the kid who still had Halloween candy left over at Christmas, and not just the lousy stuff either.

Action points of any variety drive me crazy. I'm always trying to save them for when they're really needed, which means I almost never use them. Then they reset and I've wasted them.

The only case I can think of where I don't hesitate to use action points is in Star Wars Saga where Force Points can be used to avoid dying. But that just makes my hoarding tendencies worse in other situations.

I like getting action points per level. I think I'd like action points gained by activating flaws, but I've never really been satisfied by any flaws system for D20.

BTW, I modified action points in my Eberron campaign to be d10s, but you have to declare them in advance of the roll. IMO, it's far superior to the default "declare after roll" method.
