For my character, Alamar was raised as a scholar until his 12th birthday, when he answered the "romantic" call of martial duty when new soldiers were needed to stop a series of bandit raids. He found the life of a soldier exciting, until his childhood friend Toval was killed by an arrow to the eye. As he held his friend and watched him twitch in death-throes, he lost all childhood naiveté.

He still fights for Metatron, Primate, and Bhamotin itself, but since his friend's death, and the realization that it could have been him dying to that arrow-shot, he has found little cause for joy any more; he has not lost his faith, but he has lost his innocence, and possibly his soul.

He would have left Bhamotin and journeyed looking for purpose if the army had released him of his duty (say, for 5 years of service or similar?) and the cause of bolstering an ally, even a neutral one, would be a Good deed. If he knows about Ermetn's rumors of a Cerulean invasion, he would definitely answer the call, and if he can spread Metatron's word, so much the better.

As for connections, he would possibly get along with the lawful and justice-minded Knute, even despite his worship of his heathen gods... :)

Heathen gods! My dear Alamar, let's not argue over whose imaginary friend is better than whose. :)

Knute grew up on the plateau region of Valheim. His family owned a small farm, and traveling bands of warriors were a frequent site. One evening his family was hosting a group of warriors for the night, and Knute listened to the stories they told of the great God Tyr, who lost his hand in combat. Knute was driven less by war and violence than by the justice it sought to enforce, and as he got older he spent more and more time talking with visiting warriors and advising them on matters. For some reason he could wrap his head around some things his older brethren could not.

While the warriors were pleased with Knute's devotion, his father was less so, wanting him to take over the family business. Knute has left his homeland to pursue his own path. On the way he met up with some warrior named Alamar, who looks like he could use his advice, given the civilized gods he worships. :)

Enough to get us started?

Ravana was dispatched north to Ermetn to assassinate a particular tribal warlord by his noble patron. The tribe in question has caused difficulties for the noble, with occasional disruptions of the flow of silver from his particular concession. In truth, the patron does not care much whether the target lives or dies, but wants to keep Ravana away from his belongings.

Since the two foreigners Alamar and Knute have arrived, Ravana has offered to be their guide in Ermetn. Yes, he is unpleasant and surly, but he is a Cerulean citizen, and so the local guard harrasses the foreigners less as a result.

Sounds good. I'll set an initial scene in the AP thread after I grab some dinner in the morning and you guys can take it from there.

Done. I left it wide open so you can choose what direction you want to go (e.g., follow up on Eadric Harper's call for soldiers, patrol the hills on your own, carouse the local ale halls, find a place to to call home when you're in the city, etc).
