Draconomicon - anyone else think this is exciting?

Now, I haven't been super excited about WotC stuff for a while, but the line up coming out looks pretty cool. I might even pick up the Underdark FR book if my players are heading down there (and one is very keen).

But this book looks pretty damn cool, even if just for the art. For those really experienced with DMing dragons, it might not be that good however.

What ya think?

Hey I ALWAYS get stuff about Dragons. Well Dragons, demons and undead. :) So yeah I'm getting this. Underdark...well I like Faerunian Underdark as it relates to Orcus. (More on that later). Book of Exalted Deeds, I'll get cause it's Darrin Drader's work. :)

But back on top, yes this DOES look cool. I like the Illustrations.

I, for one, am excited. Plenty of new draconic goodness, and the art is incredible.

And any book that explores the biology of any DnD creature, even a little, is worth a nod in my opinion.

Demiurge out.

May get it just because, but when I saw "Dragon prestige Classes" ...

I'm just so feated/Prclassed,templated-out..same old song & dance from just about every D20 publisher out there.

I'm with Nightfall on this

I always get anything to do with my two pet loves Dragons and Elves.

I'd have decided to buy the Draconomicon had they only showed the size by age comparison art alone to be honest.

Hehehe. I've always loved dragons. Always. Loved. But I hated the MM illo of the Black, it looks mish-mashed. So when I illustrated Crosod (a templated black from Sepulchrave's Story Hour - the picture's somewhere in the Rogue's Gallery), I changed the colouration and spikiness to make the dragon look notdumb.

I'm glad someone else thought the same way... that teaser image is very close to my rendition.

Hmm, Draconomicon does nothing for me from the previews. 2E had a book by exactly the same title, and knowing WotC, they will likely rehash material from the old book, which wasn't that good to be honest. More skills, more feats, more PrCs, more boredom. Blah.

I have a feeling this book has already been done for 3E anyway- Gary Gygax's Slayer's Guide to Dragons, which actually was much better than I thought it would be. New dragon subtypes, notes on their culture, religion, methods of warfare, roleplaying notes and tips, scenario hooks, and tons of sample lairs- as well as the prerequisite new spells, feats, items, etc. So I'll pass on this one, or at the most, ask for it for X-mas.

The Book of Exalted Deeds on the other hand, could be pretty cool, as long as its not comic book code good types of characters- give me good with some moral dilemmas. And oddly enough, the Underdark book has me intrigued, despite the fact I hate FR and most Underdark adventures. Go figure. :p
