Again another example of CHA as dump stat

DarkMaster

First Post
I was looking at the WotC site and read about the new character feature Gwall leader of armie. With a title like that you would expect a highly charismatic character (at least for a dwarf) that can lead people to his cause. No the only thing we get is a pseudo-leader with Charisma 6, come on. Then people wonder why their player don't put any points in charisma, the game designer do it so why shouldn't they. If I ever incorporate this guy in my campaign his CHA will be raised to at least 12.

No way this guy could lead and inspire so many warriors with such a poor charisma.

This is what skills and magic is for... to shine despite your weaknesses.

True, but the guys is 13 level and great leader, and he has 6 charisma not a single rank in social skill and no magical items related to social interaction.
Very dissapointed by this character, I would see him more as a lone almost unkown hero with a dragon than a leader of great armies. You cannot compare this guy with men like Athilla, Napoleon or Romel.

I know what you mean - I hate it when neither the attributes nor the skills of a character reflect the flavour text that has been written for them. Shoddy work when it appears IMO.

I recently ran an adventure off the Wizards' website called "Fallen Angel". It involved a young Ogre Mage using his army of insectile ogres to kidnap a young Trumpet Archon from a nearby village. (This came out right when Savage Species did, so they felt like using it to its full extent.) Long story short, this entire adventure was based upon this Ogre Mage knowing exactly what a Trumpet Archon was, what it was capable of, and what he could do with it. But when it came down to this guy's stats, did he have a SINGLE rank in ANY knowledge skill?

Hell no! Why would the writers waste skill points on a skill that'll never come into play in the actual game, when they could use it to beef up his Concentration or Intimidate or something? I mean, that would be, well, LOGICAL. And it wouldn't be Meta-gaming OR Min-maxing. So they couldn't to do it!

I'd use Charisma as a dump stat for alot of characters as well if I were forced to use the anemic point system where you can't even fashion a character with stats as good as you are personally.
