MD-DC-VA Gaming Day Comments...How did you like it?

Hey guys, I thought I'd start this thread off nice and early. How did you like the game day? Any suggestions for next year? Thoughts, questions, funny stories?

The TGC wants to do this again, and has already requested funding. What should we do to improve the day for next time?

I thought things went very well. I had more fun than I can remember having in quite some time. (So much so that I think I'm giving up DM'ing. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to be a player, and if no one in my group wants to step up to the plate, it's time to find another group).

Only one minor complaint, and that is that the ballroom was very noisy -- the high ceilings and hardwood floors being major culprits. I don't know what other options are available (or what the the final renovations will look like, for that matter).

It might be kind of nice to do a shorter (say 9-1) morning session and a longer (2-10) afternoon session. I know I'd have loved to have more time in the Arthurian game.

BTW, nice meeting/gaming with ya. I'll not forget the 'Battle of the Perilous Pond' anytime soon!

Overall, it went nicely. I agree the noise was a bit much, especially considering that I am not the loudest person to have "behind the screen."

Thanks to the volunteers that made it happen and the players who played the game. I hope you had fun.

I hope the ennies book have all found good homes. ;)

I saw you taking pics, Xath. Are you posting them?

I know that I had a blast! And I am pretty sure that the folks playing the HARP games also had lots of fun as well.

Sorry about the noise though (my afternoon group was very loud at time, especially when the party thief fumbled his attempts to sneak three times in a row, hurting himself worse each time and ending up with a broken collarbone the third time - I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes). I think that I am gonna head to bed now and give my sore throat a rest. hehe

Yeah yeah yeah, thief fumbles sneaking three times, breaks collarbone, everybody laughs. Those critical failures are tough...

:P

I had a great time. I noticed it was pretty loud at times as well, and I'm not sure what we can do to reduce that noise. Maybe a room with carpet, but you'll be hard pressed to find something with enough space to accomodate us all. Most of the publicly available rooms in the Union are going to be like that.

Either way, I had a great time. I look forward to starting up the next one.

I had a blast (by the way, the Pond of Doom was comedy gold). It was nice meeting various ENWorlder's, putting names to faces, and the gaming was a ton of fun.

As to the event as a whole, I was quite pleased overall. As mentioned, the volume was a little loud, but I think to some extent that is inevitable. Maybe spreading the tables out a little more would help (not that they were particularly close together, but it seemed like there was sufficient space to do that).

Other than that, I thought the location and setup were great -- having a food court downstairs is a real bonus.

Where are the Pics?

TERPCONers,

Thanks to everyone that donated time, money, SWAG to help make the Gameday a success! Special thanks goes to following:
  • DelayedReactionMan (Kevin) for making sure we had a space to play
  • To Rodrigo Istalindir, Cthulu's Librarian, Tramp4Life and a couple of others for kicking in $s to help us rent the space
  • To the Terrapin Gaming Club for kicking in the balance of the $s to help us rent the space
  • To Xath for bringing a digital camera and taking lots of pictures (since I forgot mine at home)
  • To Rodrigo Istalindir for making the signage for the tables and game line-up
  • To Rasyr, Psion and Cthulu's Librarian for bringing lots of SWAG to give away...also to Mark from Creative Mountain Games for offering e-SWAG.
  • To WizarDru and Valanthe for kindly providing the EN World Delegate name tags
  • To the players in my morning Grim Tales/3.5 Hybrid "Swords in the Mist" Arturian take-off game - Xath, Cthulu's Librarian, AIM-54, Rodgrio Istalindir, Big B and Tortoise for a great time. Although we didn't get as far as I had hoped and had to "hand-wave" much of my meticulously planned final battle against the Saxons ;) - the humor level more than made up for it :D! The Pond of Doom, the amazing number of natural 1s rolled (did Xath or AIM-54 win the fumble contest?) and overall good cheer was lots of fun!
  • To my regular group, who showed up to play our campaign in the afternoon slot, thanks for making the trip!
  • To everyone else who attended...hope ya had fun and we will look forward to doing it again!

Happy Gaming!

~ Old One

Wheee! I had a blast! Thanks to everyone that ran games and all the organizers, especially Old One, Delayed Reaction Man, and everyone else who had a hand that I don't know about!

Thanks to Old One and Rasyr for running two very entertaining games! I had a great time. I enjoyed meeting everyone and getting to try out some new things.

OO: I too wish we could have gotten farther, but I blame the dice. Artorius could have been very kingly were it not for those dice! :)

I look forward to the next round, should it become a reality!

Quick suggestion...you may want to tag this post with "GameDay" icon so it will be easier to find...
