I went with just the standard old red dragon.

But if we're talking a mascot for the current edition, it should be a half-dragon half-fiend paladin with at least two PrCs, riding his summoned mount, wielding a two-bladed sword with one blade made of adamantine and one of cold iron.

Just for the record, I like templates, PrCs, the summoned mount in 3.5, and the new DR rules, but I figure having that as a mascot would make so many people's heads explode that it would be fun :D

As a mascot, you need something small and cute.

So, Meepo.

Before seeing the choices of the poll, I was going to say "Kobold" anyway.

Definitely the owlbear. From the classic Book of Ratings (links below):

Owlbear

It's this big, owlish, bearish thing. Big deal. I can play that game too. "Watch out for the hawklion! Beware the vulturetiger! Don't worry too much about the sparrowspaniel!" The Monster Manual says that this beastie is "probably the result of genetic experimentation by some insane wizard." Insane wizards are an important part of the D&D economy, keeping inefficiently-designed catacombs stocked, adventurers busy, and dealers in magic items happy. Kind of like the WPA, only with bushier eyebrows. D+

Meepo. Definitely Meepo. As it's been said before, mascots should be cute. Red dragons are many things, but cute they ain't.

Demiurge out.

So badly wanted to vote for everyone's favorite kobold, but he doesn't really scream "D&D" to me as much as "3rd Edition". I had to go with the iconic D&D monster, the beholder. Heck, even Courtney Solomon knew he had to have a beholder or it was just another bad fantasy movie.
