Tell me about the Kenku and other flying humanoids

so what about humanoids with wings?

how do you explain them in your campaign?

how do they interact with the other races?

and what are their views on having humans as pets in cages?

Yeah, I gotta admit that I loved the look and style of them little Kenkus. . . I'm thinking on how I would bring them into my Arcana Unearthed campaign.

I currently use MMIII kenku in my Eberron game. They're generally a cynical shifty folk, with little respect for law or humanity in general. They emigrated from some dry and unplesant land (most people believe this to have been the Demon Wastes, although it's possible that it was some wasteland in Xen'drik) to Sharn about ten years ago, and have moved a great deal since then, although many of them still carve out minor criminal empires in the underbelly of the City of Towers.

Demiurge out.

Back in the good ol' days, when kenku and tengu were pretty much variations on the same creature, kenku could fly. But now, in the days of differentiation, the kenku cannot.

Demiurge out.

The new Kenku sux the big-0:).

Back when Kenku were Tengu I modified them to become a mysterious race associated with darkness and shadow. In fact their leader was a Nightwing who was plotting to throw the whole world into eternal darkness (he was also an agent of the Uber-Evil).

The only other flying race I use are a group of winged humans who I haven't allowed as a PC race (yet). My campaign features 'Legendary Champions' the occasional humanoid touched by superhuman powers. One such historic figure was a human raised since birth by a pair of giant Albatross. As he grew he developed wings, the Bird-Men are his descendents, who live on a high distant windswept land just north of the 'Sea of Eternal Ice'

As God is my witness, I thought kenku could fly.

Tam: It's a sky coach, and it's coming this way. It's flying something behind it, I can't quite make it out, it's a large banner and it says, uh – “Bless…ed….Oll…ahh…drah Day….from….House…Gha…llan…dra!”

No circling yet. Can't be glidewings... I can't tell just yet what they are, but -...Oh my God, Janar, they're kenkus!! Janar, can you get this? Oh, they're plunging to the earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the awning of a merchant’s stall! Oh, the humanity! The kenkus are hitting the ground like sacks of mud! Not since the Last War has there been anything like this!

Janar: Tam? Are you there? Tam isn't there…Thanks for that on-the-spot report, Tam, and for those of you who just tuned in, the Pinedale Exchange has just been bombed with live kenkus!

Janar: Tam are you ok?

Tam: I don't know. A gnome and his two children tried to kill me. After the kenkus hit the pavement, the crowd kind of scattered, but some of them tried to attack me! I had to jam myself into a tower lift! Then Ser d’Ghallanda had the sky coach land in the middle of the bazarre. I guess he thought he could save the day by turning the rest of the kenkus loose. It gets pretty strange after that…

Janar: Tam, C'mon now, tell us the rest.

Tam: I really don't know how to describe it. It was like the kenkus mounted a counterattack! It was almost as if they were ...organized!!

x :D

Kepp in mind that Daiglo had the first post in this thread. I seriously doubt he wants to know about third edition kenkus. I could be wrong though. Just read this and take it with a grain of salt.
