Pathfinder 1E Paizo to halt Amazing Stories

The market for genre periodicals is a rough and strange one. I'm not sure how putting a successful magazine on hold is supposed to help it. Let it fall out of the public eye, so that it loses readership? Yeah, that makes sense.

Got a nice personal e-mail from the editor about it. Am moderately bummed, but he seems hopeful that they'll come back -- that this really is a restructuring rather than a "You've had five issues and still aren't profitable", which would be pretty unrealistic, given that the average magazine isn't even expected to be profitable in its first year of publication...

We'll see. It'd be nice if my third talking-sword story could find a home, and it's much more likely to do so at the place where the first two did... :(

I'll be very interested to see if they do actually come back with another issue at some point.

I think the best way for Paizo to make money with AS woiuld be to start reprinting ALL the old issues in their original order -- starting with the very first one. I'd subscribe to that in a heartbeat!

I'm confused. Why on god's green earth would you "cancel" or "place on hiatus" a popular magazine?

My business sense is tingling....
