I wasn't planning on getting this book, but I probably will now based on the quality of the map alone

I know of at least one underwater campaign which will be utilizing "The Deep". ;)

Thanks guys,

Yeah, Ed did great work! We bow down and praise Ed regularly here at MEG. This piece is a great example of the quality of this title. I think everyone will truly enjoy this and feel it is a worthwhile addition to their library. I have never seen a better treatment of underwater adventure source material ever to my knowledge.

Geeze, shadownlight, I'm glad you like it.

How did I do it? It is a combination of 12 years using PhotoShop, a large library of satellite photos and a Wacom tablet. Perhaps there is some talent involved as well, I try real hard :p One of the most important things to making an image look unique is to NOT rely on PhotoShop filters. All textures are manipulated from photographic reference (scans or digital files) or hand made reference (painted or drawn). I have even scanned raw hamburger to get a texture

Cheers -

Did you scan the raw hamburger for the "this is Ed's brain on drugs ad"? :D

Ed did other maps in THE DEEP as well, they are black and white but of equal quality.

I just checked out the Mystic Eye Games ocean map from The Deep: http://mysticeyegames.com/Uploads/Downloads/Deep_Ishamark_Endpapersweb.zip

WOW!!

It's got the best mountain features I've ever seen in an RPG map!

Any ideas how they did that?

(I wasn't planning on getting this book, but I probably will now based on the quality of the map alone).

That is exactly how we felt when we first saw the maps for this book--I can't wait!!!!!!

I'm not running a Fantasy campaign right now so I'll have to find a way to work it into my Mutants & Masterminds campaign :D (low power X-Files-ish)
