Anyone know of d20 books about trading/merchant activities? Or should I write my own? :)

Seeing as it's finally been announced, Mongoose's Book of the Sea has a chapter on trade. There are also trade rules in Seas of Blood.

There's also some stuff in a Medieval Magical Society that could be useful.

Sounds like another great idea, Joe! I'll be looking forward to this one and hopefully using it in my campaign.

On Nation Building looks pretty good; is it going to make it's november release?
Well, hopefully. Although it'll likely be late november... (because I keep adding content). Glad you like the concept.

No need for an excuse. Your initial posting made my day :)

(Imagine this scene:
Sean K Reynolds: "I'm looking for a cool campaign setting."
Someone else: "Dude, check out Forgotten Realms. It's great!")

Didn't the WoTC arms and equipment guide have some very basic rules for trade and merchant activities? It was bare bones, but does provide a starting point.

Also, the Traveller T20 handbook has some trade and merchant stuff in it that can easily be adapted to other d20 settings/games.

joe b.

They're not d20 but should be fairly easy to adapt for personal use:
from the D&D Known World series, the Gazetteers for the Minrothad Guilds and the Republic of Darokin (#9 and #13, IIRC) had good treatments of trade by sea (Minrothad) and land (Darokin).

Yes, it did. They were sketchy, but workable.

Also, AEG's Empire by Mike Mearls has a light treatment of trade - though as an abstract part of the running of a realm, and not in any detail as a result.
