Anyone seen the Troy trailer (merged)

Troy trailer

Did anyone else see this last night before Revolutions? A shorty but a goody. Begins on Brad Pitt's face, then zooms out to his ship, then zooms out and out over a massive warfleet. Nice.

I just saw it online. It looks good. They certainly have a talented enough cast there and a director with experience.

Jeez, I hope it's neither.

Well, personal feelings aside, Gladiator did have a solid box office even with an R rating and scored Oscar Wins including Best Picture and Actor. The Troy movie is being compared to [/I]Gladiator in the latest Esquire magazine. In fact, many on the set feel that this can be the picture that gets Mr. Pitt a Best Actor nod. Be curious to see if that's true. He does look great as Achilles so far from what I've seen.

Which IMO it didn't quite deserve.

That said, I found Gladiator an very entertaining movie - though I never went and saw it in theaters. Not thought-provoking or anything, but sometimes I'm in the mood for something mindless, and it was IMO good mindless fun.

And it based the soundtrack off of Holst's Mars... I love Holst.

Anyone seen the Troy trailer

I just saw the trailer for Troy, directed by Wolfgang Peterson and starring Brad Pitt. First I've heard of this Anyone else seen this?

A very D&D-relavent question would be, will it be mythological a-la Clash of the Titans, or will it be 'historical'?

Could be pretty cool. I like the casting for the most part, though Brad Pitt doesn't exactly conjure up images of Achilles for me.

Based on IMDB, Sean Bean plays Odysseus.......Perfect!

This has a lot of potential to be really good, or a total stinker. At least it's heading for a niche area (movies on mythology) which has had very little strong competition (probably even less than in the fantasy movie genre before Jackson's work).

I downloaded the trailer and am actually planning to use it to start off a class I'm teaching Wednesday (on the epic). Should be fun.

One question - the cast list has someone playing a character called "Texan". When the heck did one of Bush's predecessors get to Asia Minor?
